JUniNOUIN Review Editor After you've read these pearls of wisdom, turn the page, inspect the new, improved Black College Sports Review and let us know what you think. Like the latest miracle detergents, we've added some new ingredients and done our _ leveL_ best during the "off-season" to fme tune others. The most noteworthy of those changes is that there won't be an off-season anymore ? we're publishing 12 months a year now.mm n . ^ W* 1 wnat in tne name 01 taaie Robinson will we fill our pages with when school is out? Plenty. First of all, we'll be able to cover spring sports more thoroughly. Until now, they've out of necessity received only token coverage. Second, we'll have more latitude to include more profiles of black college alumni in professional sports, including the NBA and major league baseball (remember when Phillies reliever A1 Holland was a running back in ? f?1l J mm mmm mi.aUor an tka inc 1 oil ttiiu oil aw iu uiv spring for North Carolina A&T or when Expos All-Star Andre Dawson hit baseballs and caught them for Florida A&M?). Third, we'll be able to keep you abreast of spring and summer developments in black college sports. For instance, when the MEAC moved its ailing basketball tournament to Philadelphia, we could have furnished more timely reports had we published during the past summer. Also, we'll be better able to keep you informed on the recruiting wars. Fourth, we'll publish two special editions: our own swimsuit edition featuring models from black colleges (you may remember me complaining about how Sports Illustrated seems to annually ignore black women in its cancel-mv-subscriotion issue) and a pictorial review of the past academic year in sports. Among other changes this year: The increased use of color photographs on our inside pages. The addition of syndicated columnist Barry Cooper to our staff. Barry writes about black u r college LAYS >u More Of Welcome Aboar Rust College and Brenda Chr basketball last season by be; NCAA title.
