Often we are a little too concerned
about the other person
and what he is doing when our attention
should be on our personal
matters.
If each of us were sufficiently
busy with our own tasks, we
would have no time to be watching
what our neighbor does.
k Many people have not learned
their personal responsiblity con-*
cerning their lives and it is not
their personal responsiblity to see
that others do at all times what
they think they should do.

Israel -- has amassed a for'
midable military arsenal, equipped
with the latest and most
sophisticated weaponry.
To make matters worse, there
is convincing evidence that the
madmen of apartheid either
possess the nuclear bomb or the
technology to produce one ?
again thanks to good oF
America.
Accordingly, a guerilla war ?
or, for that matter, any war - "
launched against the Afrikaners
will be no easy task.
But with peaceful transition
becoming a more remote
possibility with each passing day,,
it appears^thaL our sisters and
brothers will have no alternative
other than to engage in the
"struggle that must be."
For our part, AfricanAmericans
must continue to put

than half of the others. Three out
of five were employed, compared
with, only a third of fhe others.
Two out of five enrolled in,college
or a postsecondary school,
compared with only one out of
five in the control group.
The people who had been in
the preschool program as
children also had far fewer arrests,
half as many teen-age
pregnancies and were much less
likely to be on welfare than those
who were not in the preschool
program.
The demonstrated positive effects
of Head Start have helped it
survive the heavy budget cuts felt
by other social service programs,
but even so, Head Start serves
less than one out of five eligible
children.
A comprehensive nationwide
child care program will not happen
all at once. It will probably
evolve from a number of
developments, including the
necessary expansion of Head
Start and similar programs.
But as the growing need for
quality child care programs impacts
on public policies, it is
essential that parental and community
involvement be an integral
part of institutionalized

We would even question
whether Rev. Jesse Jackson and
the other politics of 1984 would
have occurred had it not been felt
by black America that their plight
was threatened.

Further, we must assume the

enlighten our neighbors, relatives
and friends as to why it is imperative
that we; all support the
plight of our oppressed cousins in
South Africa. For not only are
our tax monies being used to

chances are that if Reagan is reelected,
our sons, daddies and

blood defending the wrong side
in South Africa! It is getting that

Black colleges must bear some
of the blame as well. If a universiis
