Charlotte Mayor Harvey Gantt
will be the guest speaker at the
Black Political Awareness
League (BPAL) annual awards
banquet on Saturday. Nov. 3, at
the M.C. Benton Convention
Center at 6 p.m.
Before becoming Charlotte's
first black mayor, Gantt served
as a Charlotte city council
member for 10 years and mayor
pro-tern for three years He is a
member of the board of trustees
of Friendship Baptist Chunh and
Sacred Heart College and has
served as a visiting comin11tee
member at Davidson College, the
MIT School ot Drafting and
Planning, chairman of the
Johnson C. Smith United Negro
College Fund Drive, boardmember
of the Alio American
