JUN Club notes 20th anniversary with worship Navy Airman Gary E. Lewis, son of Margaret F. and Walter P. Lewis Jr. of Pave Avenue, recently completed Aviation Enlisted Aircrew Training School. The five-week course at Naval Aviation Schools Command at the Naval Air Station in Pen sacola, Fla., introduced Lewis to the aviation environment. His in struction included water and land survival techniques, physical fitness, first aid and CPR, swim ming and aviation student infor mation. He is a 1975 graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School and a 1982 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a bachelor of science degree. The JUN (Just Us Neighbors) Club is celebrating its 20th an niversary this month. The club is composed of members of the Winston Lake Estates communi ty, located off Waterworks Road between Old Greensboro Road. The club’s purpose IS neighborliness with all of its con notations - upkeep of the com munity, care for its members in sickness, death and fun and celebration of accomplishments made by all. The group also par ticipates in city, state and na tional affairs. JUN is purchasing Thanksgiv ing turkeys for the Samaritan Soup Kitchen and on Sunday, Nov. 25, members will worship together at Goler Metropolitan Methodist Church. After the ser vices, they will have dinner together. Navy Seaman Recruit Kevin L. Wood, son of Fred and Rebecca G. Smith, has completed recruit training at the Navy Recruit Training Command at the Navy Training Center in Great Lakes, During Wood’s eight-week training cycle, he studied general military subjects designed to prepare him for further academic and on-the-job training in one of the Navy’s 85 basic fields. Wood’s studies included seamanship, close-order drill, naval history and first aid. Per sonnel who complete this course of insturction are eligible for three hours of college credit in physical education and hygiene. A 1984 graduate of Parkland High School, he joined the Navy in February 1984. Navy Fireman Recruit Angeline M. Petree, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. James W. Petree of Tangle Lane, has graduated from Basic Hull Maintenance Technician School. During the eight-week course at the Naval Damage Control Training Center in Philadelphia, Pa., Petree received instruction in the basics of welding, pipefit ting and metalsmithing. She also studied the procedures used to fabricate, install and repair all types of shipboard structures. plumbing and piping system.
