Page A12-Tlie Chronicle, Thursday, November 15, 1984 I vM m ‘'i O’Neil Chronicle Camera Broadway Wilson Did the results of last week’s election satisfy you? By SUSAN HUNT Chronicle Staff Writer The Chronicle asked local residents: Were you satisfied with the outcome of the elections? Edna Jackson Glenn, cook: No, 1 did not like the outcome of the elections. Reagan did not help blacks when he was in this past four years, so 1 don’t think that he will do anything for us another term. Blacks are in store for a very hard time. Waverly Broadway, cosmetologist: 1 would have liked for Mondale to win. It is really going to be a trip with Reagan back in. Taxes will go up and we’ll all be out of jobs. Gloria O’Neil, student: 1 feel that a lot of people are going to school on financial aid. This financial aid will be cut back with Reagan in. 1 really wanted Fer raro to be vice president. She would have helped women a lot. Chuck Wilson, stock clerk: 1 wanted Mondale and the other Democrats to win. 1 think that it will still work out the same. We won’t have any harder time than we’ve had before. James Dixon, retired: All 1 can say is it was quite an upset. Gloria Thomas, fast-food chain worker: 1 do hate that Reagan is back in that chair. We’re going to have a worse time, because he has already said that things could not be straightened out in a decade. 1 would have rather seen Jesse Jackson in that chair. The world would have been a better place if he had gotten in. Marilyn McCall, housewife: 1 think that many blacks must have voted for Reagan. If you look at the margin that he won by this term and the margin that he won by four years ago, it was too big a margin. A lot of blacks must have voted for him. All we can do now is wait another four years. It’s a pretty town and it’s small. “When I grew up in Atlanta, il was very Southern. It had all the elements of a big city but in 10 to 15 minutes you could get aWay from all that.’’ Although Biggs said she hasn’t developed any specific goals for herself in the district attorney’s office other than getting litiga tion experience, she has decided that she wants to be involved in the community and has joined a number of organizations. As a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where the Rev. John Mendez is the pastor, Biggs is chairperson of the economic development committee and is in the process of developing seminars to teach people how to write wills. She also is co chairperson of the program com mittee for the Winston-Salem Bar Association. iT NAVY. irs NOT JUST ASNUFF, IT? AN ADVENTURE. Heime Tobacco Company a company of Culbro (kjrporation MRS. Reagan could wind up doing a good job. It’s just hard to say. Eddie Boler, unemployed: If everyone had gotten involved in the election from the outset, and not just at the end, the results would have been a little bit bet ter. Reginald Lumpkins, cook: 1 was definitely not satisfied with Reagan’s win. He is too old to be president. All those people on social security, the poor blacks and the poor whites will be hurt most of all. Rich people don’t care. FOR DRY HAOdNG COUGH AND NASAL CONGESTION TRY 1RIAMINK’ EXPECTORANT.
