Eastern Star
The 11th District Order of the
Eastern Star held its annual
I workshop and district meeting on
Saturday, May 25, in Mocksville
at the Masonic Hall.
The host chapter was Rose De
Mall No. 531 with Shirley Allen,
worthy matron, presiding.
Devotion leaders were
Pincelcolar Clyburn, past
matron, B.T. Williams, Mary
Washington and Nora Eaton.
Dorothy Sprinkle, grand
district deputy, was the guest
speaker.

$34,000 in grants

Repertory Co., based in

winston-salem, recently received
$34,000 in grants from the
Winston-Salem Foundation,
N.C. Arts Council and Theater
Arts of N.C., department of
cultural resources. The funds will
be used for salary support, staff?
development and operating expenses.
The NCBRC was founded in
1979 by Larry Leon Hamlin and
is one of the largest theater guilds
in the nation supporting black
theater.
The organization's headquarters
is in the Hanes Community
Center. The group usually
performs in the Arts Council
Theater at 610 Coliseum Drive.
