He was born in Surry County in 1905 to the late I Walter I. and Maude Ferguson Banner. He came to Winston-Salem at an eariv aon ? .J uiiu iUUbl of his life here. He was educated in the local public schools and at Winston-Salem Teachers College. Banner was a lifelong member of St. James AME Church, where he served as a steward for many years. He was a member of Camel City Elks, No. 1020, a retired employee of BrownWilliamson Tobacco Co. and owner and operator of Banner's Place on Gilmer Ave. He is survived by his wife, Ellsworth S. Banner of the home, several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives ' and many friends. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May . 9, at St. James AME Church, with the Rev. Philip R. Cousin Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery. Russell Funeral Directors was in charge of the funeral arrangements. FANNIE PINNOCK , . Fannie Pinnock, 64, of 2901-A New Walkertown Road ^ died Friday, May 1, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Florence, S.C., and a member of St. Mark Baptist Church, where she served on the Missionary Circle. Mrs. Pinnock was a retired nurse from Booth mvuivuai nuapuai in rsew York City. She is survived by one daughter, Rosa Rivers of Astoria, N.Y.; two sisters, Orilla Davis of Pamlico, S.C., and Christine McNeil of Philadelphia; a son-inlaw, James Rivers of Astoria; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two godchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, at St. Mark Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Fulwood officiating. Entombment followed in Piedmont Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
