' ii- ~a - Project DARE to a low-income hearin Special to the ChronicleThe National Captioning Institute announced today that many hearing-impaired children from low income families in North Carolina will now be able to enjoy the benefits of closedcaptioned television. This is the result of a $25,000 grant from North Carolina's Janirve Foundation. NCI, in cooperation with the North Carolina Department of Human Resources, Council for the Hearing Impaired, has formed an ad-hoc committee of educators, counselors and social workers throughout the state.
