Area Deaths and Funerals Russell's Funeral Home 822 Carl Russell Ave. 722-3459 BASS Mr. Joseph Bass Sr. of Winston-Salem died Mon day, Dec. 9,1991, at his home. He was born in Rocking ham County on October 12, 1926 to Mrs. Irma C. Flo rence. He was a native of Summerfield but had lived in Winston-Salem for about 35 years. At an early age he joined Saint Thomas Chapel Holiness Church. He was educated in the Guilford County school system. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Janice C. Bass of the home; six sons, Roy Lee P. Bass of Newport News, Va., John bass of Belews Creek, Joseph Bass Jr. of Tex., Roger Bass and Dennis Bass, both of Greensboro, Michael feass and Earl Bass, both of Reidsville; his mother, Irma C. Florence of Summerfield; three sisters, Gertrude Harrison, Peggy Goods, and Delsene Bailey, ^ all of Greensboro; three brothers, Cord us Bass and Lester Florence, both of Summerfield, and Lester Flo rence of Greensboro; 11 grandchildren plus many other relatives and friends. ^ Funeral services were held Friday, December 13, at 1 p.m. at Russell Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. McArthur Pettiford officiating. Burial followed at Ever green Cemetery. BRADLEY - . ^ Mr. Sam Wilson Bradley of Winston-Salem died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1991, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bishopville, S.C. to the late Susie Wil son and Sam Bradley on July 8, 1913. He had lived in Winston-Salem for aoout 52 years. He was a retired employee of the R J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, Fac tory #90-3. He was a member of Mount Sinai Glorious Church of God and an active member of the Senior Choir and the Deacon Board. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Amelia Gregg Bradley of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Shirley B. Richardson_of Winston-Salem and Mrs. Beunice B. Peterson of Durham; five sons, Sam Bradley Jr., Harvey T. Bradley, Dennis D. Bradley, Geradi M. Bradley and Severius E. (Teresa) Bradley, all of Winston-Salem; one sister, Veritia Ellison of Winston-Salem; 11 grandchil dren plus many other relatives and friends. Funeral -raviccs wptp. HpIH Wednesday. HYNES """ Mrs. Regina White Hynes of Winston-Salem died Saturday, Dec. 14, 1991 at North Carolina Baptist Hos pital. She was born on March 8,1934, in Forsyth Coun ty to the late Gtytle Oscar and Mary Elizabeth White * Lewis. She attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County public school system and Winston-Salem Teachers Col lege. She w6s a retired employee of the Winston Salem/Forsyth County public school system. Her reli gions affiliation was with Union Mission Holiness Church. Her husband, the late Mr. Clarence R. Hynes, preceded her in death on March, 5,1988. She is survived by one daughter, Marie Regina Hynes of the home; five sons, Michael Ray Hynes, Ronald Lee Hynes, Donald Edward Hynes, David Lee Hynes, and Clarence Hynes Jr., all of Winston-Salem; one brother, Samuel Edward White of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Annie Mae Allen, Emma Lee Blair, and Patricia White (Elmore T.) Douthit, all of Winston Salem; five grandchildren; plus many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 17, at 3 p.m. at Russell Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ametta E. Beverly officiating. Burial followed at Ever green Cemetery. McCREE ^la^ter Joshua Patrick McCree, age 16 months, of "Vinston-Salem died Sunday, Dec. 16, 1991, at North Carolina Baptist HospitaL He is survived by his parents, Charles Patrick McCree and Lavone Smith McCree of the home; one sister, Brittany McCree of the home; one brother, Carlos McCree of the home; his maternal grandparents, Franci na and Forrest Smith of Winston-Salem, his paternal grandparents, James and Phyllis Cochrane of Winston Salem; plus many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 17, at 1 p.m. at Russell Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Anthony Hines officiating. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery. THOMPSON Miss Vergie Alice Smith of Winston Salem died? Thursday, Dec. 12, 1991, at North Carolina Baptist Hos pital. She was born on July 14, 1903 in Devotion locat ed in Surry County, to the late Riley and Betty Choate Thompson. She joined New Home Missionary Baptist Church in Devotion where she was president of the Home Mission Society for many years. After moving to Winston-Salem, she joined First Calvary Baptist Church where she was a member of the Vocal Choir and worked in other capacities as well. She was a domestic worker for the late Dick Reynolds and the late Ralph Hanes. She is survived by eight nephews, Clarence Thompson, Omer Thompson, Lovelace Thompson, Luther Thompson, and Nicklas Thompson Jr., all of Winston-Salem, and Alfred Thompson of North Wilks boro; seven nieces, Ruth Robertson and Hazel Dockery, both of Portsmouth, Va., Elsie Watson of Elkin, Rozetter Humphrey of Chicago, 111, Hazel Valentine of Calif., Eula Smith of East Bend, and Hettie Johnson of Win ston-Salem; two first cousins, Click Choate and Win ford Choate; plus many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday, December 16, at 2 p.m. First Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. E.J. Highdbtoer officiating. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery.
