In the spirit of giving Greater Winston Kiwanis Club donates toys to needy kids By YVETTE N. FREEMAN ' Community News Editor The Greater Winston Kiwanis Club helped to make this Christmas a little merrier for about 200 needy children over the weekend. On Saturday, Dec. 21, members of the Club hosted a holiday celebration at the Winston Lake YMCA where tliey dis tributed $5,000 worth of toys to children whose families may not have been able to afford the luxury of toys this Christ mas season. MWe are just glad we are able to reach out to the community and make the holiday season a little brighter for .people who are less fortunate than ourselves/ said Dennis Felder, president of the Club. "We just wish we could do more." During the celebration, the children, who had been identified as needy by local social ser vice agencies, the WS/FC School system, and the YMCA, were able to choose two items from an assortment of gifts which included toys, portable radios, dolls, and games. In addition to members of the Kiwa nis Club, Alderman Vivian Burke was also on hand to help distribute the gifts.
