"Even though I am 75 years old, I am still very healthy. Getting an educa tion will help me to help others," said Mrs. Lynch. Having come to the United States in 1969, to be with her daughter, Enid Lynch has rarely been idle. She helped raise her grandchildren in New York and then later in Win ston-Salem while keeping jobs off and on until the ripe age j>{ 73. In September, 1991, she decided it was time to go back to school, get her high school diploma, and then go on to college. In college, she wants to study physical thera py. Teachers at Forsyth Tech know that she can and will do whatever she puts her mind to. After two quarters of classes in Forsyth Tech's Adult High School Program, she has yet to make a grade less than an "A T Of the 240 Adult High School students, most of whom are between the ages of 17 and 25, she stands out. This is not because of her age, but her academic excel lence. "She is outscoring everybody. I don't think she has scored less than a 98 on any of my tests. Her zeal for learn ing defies her age," said teacher Robert Tompkins. "She is the perfect student. Although the other students are much younger, they really admire her for her academic excel lence." "I think I make the other students work harder," said Mrs. Lynch. "They are challenged by me." Challenging others and herself to be the best is what has guided Mrs. Lynch through lifeTTI am very proud of my health. Never smoking or drinking and always staying active has been my secret/' she added. It will take Mrs. Lynch about one and a half years to complete her high school education. At 76 years old, she will be one of the oldest graduates to ever complete Forsyth Tech's Adult High- School program. She probably will have one of the highest grade point averages too. li_ | , , ? , , ?''??ft' Hampton Alumni to hold '92 Regional Conference ! < p TheWinston-Salem Chapter of the National Hampton Alumni Association, inc.
