JIM JOHNSTON Chairman and Chief Executive Officer RJ. Reynolds Tobacco Company October 5, 1992 i Dear Friends: Jim Colbert was crowned champion of the Senior PGA TOUR's most significant event this past weekend ? the $1.5 million Vantage Championship at Tanglewood. From the first shot struck in the pro-am tournament to the final putt, the golf action was thrilling. The special camaraderie that is unique to the Senior PGA TOUR was exceeded only by the community-wide effort of more than 3,000 volunteers, numerous corporate sponsors and support personnel. When a community pulls together to stage such an enjoyable event, everyone can take pride in its success. And so the list of winners is not restricted to Jim Colbert and Don January, who captured the Vantage Classics competition for players aged 60 and above. That list extends to all the volunteers who gave so freely of their time, to the many sponsors who lent their support, to the players of the Senior PGA TOUR for staging such a riveting battle over the beautiful Championship Course at Tanglewood, and to the thousands of spectators who witnessed it. We at R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company are devoted to teamwork. Thanks to the many individuals of Forsyth County and the Triad who shared that ideal during the Vantage Championship, the best event on the Senior PGA TOUR. We look forward to having you join us at Tanglewood when the Vantage Championship returns next year. Sincerely, % - ?>> . "We work for smokers." C1M2 K J. REYNOUM TOBACCO CO. / 4
