Area Deaths and Funerals STANFORD Mr. Lemuel A. Stanford of Winston-Salem died Saturday, December 26, 1992 at Winston-Salem Convalescent Center. He was a native of Orange County and was bom August 26, 1909. He was a retired machinist with Norwalk Fabricators of Norwalk, Conn. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a charter member since 1940 of Calvary Baptist Church in Nor walk, Conn. After moving to Lexington, he became a member of First Baptist Church, Village Drive, Lexington. He is survived by his wife, Martha Elizabeth Ingram Stan ford of the Winston-Salem Convalescent Center, two daugh ters, Martha Jean Jimenez-Omar of Queens, N.Y., and Effie LaMar Bush of Welcome; three grandchildren; one sister. Amelia Capehart Brown of Greensboro; plus many other rela tives and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 30, at 12 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Lexington, with the Rev. Glen Pettiford officiating. Burial followed in Carolina Biblical Gardens. Funeral arrangements were handled by Morrison Sturdi vant Funeral Directors of Lexington. The Most Rev. James P. For parents it may mean getting into a discussion group with other parents or getting professsional help. For children it may mean sincere cooperation to make the family stronger. For in laws and grandparents it may mean learning the difficult discipline of listening to family members without taking sides or giving advice. The basic question is, "What is human maturity worth?" Are the members of my family worth the investment of time and interest that must be made in order to develope them closer to fulfillment? One final reminder from research: A great many of those who diligently try to find human maturity within the family gain hap strengthen family ties. If you have an excellent family, a good family or even one that is fair, you should consider yourself among the most fortunate citizen of America. Few people realize the true value of a family, because they are always concentrating on the faults and shortcomings of other family members without even stopping to look at themselves. Before you complain about your family not being close and not showing any interest in you, you might want to take this family quiz that I have prepared to test the extent of your own interest in your family. Remember, each question has several parts. 1. How often do you call your. In the city , relatives? Do you ever call your out of the city relatives, or do you always depend on them to do all the calling? Do you call your relatives in town A) Once per week? B) Once per month?; C) Once every 3 months? D) More often than any time men tioned on the list that you just read? 2. Do you share in and rejoice over the successes of your family mem bers and let them know how you feel about their success? 3) Do you share in your family's disappoint ments and illnesses? Do you call during their crises and really mean what you say when you ask them what you can do to help in a time of distress? Or, do you wait until your fam ily has solved the problem and them talk about "Oh I would have done thus and so.
