Bridge Club will sponsor its annual
Grade "B" Tournament on Satur
day. March 27, 1993 at the North
Park Community Center, 849

Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and
the game starts at 9:30 a.m. There
will be two sessions. The fee will

Awards and Young People's Jeffer
son Awards, sponsored by WXII
TY and the American Institute tor
Public Service in Washington will
be awarded to a local outstanding
?volunteer as selected by a'distin
?guished panel of judges.
Sgt. Stephen Hairston of Win
?ston-Salem will receive the Jeffer
son Award at a banquet on March
?2' at 7 p.m. at the Airport Marriott
Hotel in Greensboro. The winner
will also be profiled in an upcoming
WXII newscast.

!ni7'es the dedication, sacrifices, and
serve their fellow citizens through
public'service. This year's winners
are also nominated for the 1993
National Jefferson Awards that take
place in the Supreme Court Cham
bers this summer. One of the Local
t-993 Jefferson Award winners will
be representing the Piedmont area
this summer in Washington.
The judges consisted of four of
the five winners from last year's
awards ceremony. They were Patri
cia Candler of Julian. Brenda Evans
of Winston-Salem. John Haynes of
Greensboro, and Wes Schol lander of
Winstun-Salem. Beth Alexander of
accomplishments of individuals in the American Red Cross was also a

youth to the Kemet School of
Knowledge and to provide incen
tives to encourage the completion of
internships at community agencies;
Skyline Village Tenant Association,
to provide an after-school program
for homework help and tutoring; and
Spu n of Life Community Choir, to
provide transportation for youth to
choir practices and performances.
