Otseha Creative Arts Ensemble performed for Paisley Middle School students, faculty and staff this week. Otesha Creative Arts Ensemble Entertains t ? Paisley Middle School had a special treat this week when they were entertained by the Otesha Cre ative Arts Ensemble of Winston Salem .who has perforfned locally, throughout the JL'.S. and Canada. The focus of the musical was African dance, theater and music. Dancers and musicians included Hashim Salih. Robbin Lit tlejohn. George Glenn and Sherone Price Students enjoyed and partici pated in the demonstration and were given valuable information concern ing the afnean histor\ . Some of the dances were: Doundounbal. which was preformed during the ceremony when a boy is taught to he a man; Fanga. which was a welcome dance from Nigeria; and Mindiani. a cele brat ion dance. The audience also got the chance to learn of instruments such as: Djembe. a signal drum; Djun, which represents the earth and was used to send messages. But the most im port ant message the dancers tried to send the students was"working together you can accomplish a goal." Diggs Gallery Continues Series Diggs Gallery at Winston Salem State University will host a lecture or film every Thursday in March at 7 p.m. in conjunction with the "Ashe: Improvisation & Recy cling in African-American Visionary Art exhibit.
