Hanes Hosiery WCCC Invitational Action Hanes Hosiery Defeats West Central In the first round of the West Central Invitational 16 and Under Basketball Tournament, Hanes Hosier.' had seven players in double figures as they crushed West Cen tral White Squad 97-53. Hanes was led by power for ward Darrius White with 29 points. Daniel Hafford had 16 points; Lam ont Joe. 14; Derrick Home and Nathan Snipes, 1 1 points each and Lavon Archie and Hiwatha Hoover with 10 points each. Home pulled down 17 rebounds while White had 15 and Hafford 12. ? Lamont Joe and Nathan Snipes had nine assist each. West Central was led by John Holder with 13 points and David Somers with 10. Hanes 16 and Under All-Stars Overpower Stokes In the West Central Invitational Basketball Tournament Semi . Finals, the Hanes Hosiery 16 and Under All-Star Team crushed the Stokes County All-Stars 89-67. Hanes used a man-to-man . defense that Stokes couldn't handle to jump out to an early lead and maintained easily throughout the game. Darrius White was a force inside scoring 30 points, including two ' nasty dunks" that brought the crowd to it's feet! Guards Daniel Hafford and Lamont Joe busted the nets from the - outside scoring 15 points each, and both had several beautiful passes inside to White for easy baskets. Forward Lavon Archie had 14 points and all-around athlete Nathan Snipes added 11 additional points. Cortez Johnson, Terrell Gaither, Hiwatha Hoover and Robert Joe also contributed excel lent plays to the game. Hanes 16 And Under All-Stars Win WCCC Lamont Joe had a super game scoring 20 points, including several clutch baskets, while Darrius white controlled the inside despite being in foul trouble early. Daniel Hafford led the rebounding to lead the Hanes Hosiery' All-Star to a 70-49 victory over the WCCC Red All-Stars and capture the West Central Invitation al Championship. White, Hafford and Derrick Homes combined to pull down 41 rebounds as the Hosiery controlled both the offensive and defensive boards. It was a 12-point game going into the third quarter, but Hanes Hosiery pulled away with great defense from Nathan Snipes and Hafford. and a mean dunk' by White off an offensive rebound, which sparked the Hosiery to run away with the game 70-49. Hanes 10-12 Year-Old Lose Heart Breaker The Hanes Hosiery 10-12 year old lost to a very big WCCC All Star Team 52-48. Despite the big size advantage that WCCC had over the Hanes Team, Hanes really played their hearts out. It was a close game all the way through, but Hanes couldn't hit some key shots tow ard the end. Hanes was led by Trey Williams and Jonathan Webb with 12 points each, while K. C. Dob bins, Tony Surles and Derek Chisolm had six each. Other Hanes Hosiery standouts included Carter Williams, Jamal Scott, Jordan Lash. Joe Alexander. Tommy McGuinn, Tim Penn and Payton Triplett. Hanes 10-12 All-Stars Defeats South Fork The Hanes Hosiery 10-12 Year Old All-Stars bounced back from their loss to WCCC, and defeated South Fork 40-28. Tommy McGuinn had five blocked shots and six points, while Trey Williams hit seven points and several key defensive plays to lead the Hanes All-Stars! Jonathan Webb led Hanes in rebounding with nine, while McGuinn had seven and Carter Williams, six. South Fork was led by Dennis Evans with eight points and Oscar Ledbetter with six. Stokes County Takes Third Over Hanes In the third place consolation game at the West Central 10-12 year-old Invitational. Stokes County youth league All-Stars over whelmed a smaller Hanes Hosiery 10-12 year -old squad 43-35 for third place. Tony Surles led Hanes with 10 points, while Trey Williams had nine. Jon Webb chipped in six points, Payton Triplett and Derek Chisoim combined for eight addi tional points. Tommy McGuinn and Carter Williams led the Hanes rebounding.
