Metro Conference Track Meet Held Last Thursday's Metro 4-A Conference Track Meet was held at Wake Forest University with Williams High School taking first place in the boys' division with total team points scoring 178.5. Other school scores for the boys were as follows: North Forsyth-124; Smith-113.5; East. Forsyth-89.5; Carver-85.5; Glenn 31.5; Page-30.5; and South Stokes I7. In the Pole Vault, Stith, from ? North Forsyth took first place with 106". Monroe captured first place in the Discuss, throwing 128.3 feet for East Forsyth; Good, also from East took second and Shuford captured thiid for North Forsyth. In the 800 Rf lay North Forsyth took third place with Glenn taking fourth. Yates captured second place for Parkland in the Shot Put with Good placing third for East. In the Triple Jump Wilson took first place for North Forsyth with a distance of 43.10 feet. Van Hooks placed second and Lunsford third for West Forsyth. M. Scales of East finished first in the 100m Dash for East with a time of 10.98 seconds. Covington took second for West and Patterson finished third for Carver. In the 1,600m Run Pluchos from East took first place finishing in a time of 4.28 seconds. Pearson from North took second. Covington from West took first place in the 400m Dash with a time of 50.7 seconds; Liles from North Forsyth placed second. McDonald took first place in the 110 Hurdles for West with a time of 15.43 seconds and third place was taken by Falter from Carver. In the 300 Hurdles Banner from Carver finished first in a time of 42.3 seconds and McDonald placed second for West Pluchos placed first in the 800 Run for East with a time of 2:01:7: ? M. Scales took first in the 200 Run for East in 22.57 seconds; Paterson took second for Carver; and Summey placed third from North Forsyth. In the 3,200 Run, Mabe placed first for North with a time of 10:08.5; also from North" Pearson took second place. North Forsyth placed second in the 800 Relay and Glenn took third place. In the 400 Relay Carver: Pater son, Manns, Banner and Chaplin took first place with a time of 44.1 seconds. Chris Pluchos from East Forsyth was named outstanding runner at the meet; while Pazores Vahock and Jason Lunsford of West Forsyth was named MVP Field. In the girls events North Forsyth finished first with a total score of 158, Carver took fourth place; East finished fifth and Glenn seventh. In the Long Jump Sellers took first place for North with a distant of 17' 2". Wilson took Second and Hayes third for Carver. M. Clayton finished first in the Shot Put for East throwing 36' 4", arid McGriff took second for North. Clayton finished in first place in the Discuss for East throwing 120' 1", and McGriff took second place for North. East Forsyth High School were the team winners including: J. J. Morgan-72; Ryan Hanson-75; and Jason Wright-82. Playing in the 8-12 year-old division Anthony Hiatt took the winners bracket with 42 points and Heather Angell was runner-up scor ing 43. And that means it's time to get ready for the 4th Annual Winston-Salem State University "Bighouse" Gaines Spring Classic. This year's Spring Classic will be held on May 22, with the tennis portion played on the clay courts at Hanes Park. It will be a mixed dou bles competition and each member of the winning team will receive a weekend getaway at a tennis resort facility. Additional prizes will include large tennis bags and other items. The fun will begin at 9:30 a.m. A luncheon and awards ceremony will follow the tournament at the Winston Lake Golf Course Club house.
