Fraternity has Successful Year The brothers of the Delta Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Frater nity Inc. have worked diligently for the good of mankind. They started off the 1992il993 school season by holding a book drive to combat illit eracy in the prisons and a can food drive where food was donated to the Winston-Salem Crisis Control Mis sioTi. A clothing drive was also held and the clothes were given to the Salvation Army. A few of the brothers donated their time to the Red Cross Blood Drive at Winston-Salem State Uni-? versity; Jn the area of community involvement, ihe brothers have vol unteered time to clean up their Adopt-A-Highway area. They have also participated in voter registra tion drives and marches through the Happy Hills Gardens community to get people to vote. A scholarship fund was created by the Alpha Alpha Gamma Sigma Chapter in the name of Hoyt Wiseman. The benefit concert produced a new scholarship for a needy student to go to school. Brothers from differ ent chapters attended the concert and donated money toward the scholarship fund. The Delta Alpha Chapter , includes: Tracy T. Webb president; Reginald Foster vice president; Dar ren Myers; Duane Hackney; Many Hopkins; and Guy Parks. Sigma Gamma Rho Local Chapter Wins Award Members of Alpha Mil Sigma attended their regional conference in Cambridge. Mass., on April 23 "25. The members represe n t i ng Alpha Mu Sigma were Evelyn W. Sander*. president; Linda Mann, second vice president; and Carolyn Bufrell. treasurer. Fran Burrell rep resented the Rhoer Club. Alpha Mu Sigma won first place in the scrapbook competition and the first-place award for the Outstanding Program of the year. The Rhoer Club of Alpha Mu Sigma won the first-place award for Table Display. Rho Chapter, located at Win > ston-Salem State University, won the first -place award in the step Competition. The first-place award for Advisor of the Year went to Linda Mann, advisor to Rho Chap ter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. Forsyth Tech Holds GED Graduation Forsyth Technical Community College held its semi-annual GED graduation ceremony on April 30. Over 150 adults received their GED diploma from Forsyth Tech from October 1992 through March 1993. Lee Kinard, a former GED graduate and a news commentator from WGHP-TV, was the guest speaker. The GED is a high school equivalency diploma earned by passing the five parts of the GED tests. GED preparation classes are offered by Forsyth Tech at many 1 o c a t i ons throughout W mston Salem. Brandon Graduates From School of Medicine ^Rochelle Monique Brandon, Daughter of Mr. & Mrs. James Willie Brandon of Winston-Salem, will graduate from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine on Sunday, at 1 p.m. Brandon, a native of Winston Salem. graduated from North Forsyth Senior High School in 1984. She received The John Mot ley Morehead Scholarship to attend, the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. In 1988, she com pleted a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Rochelle Monique Brandon Chemistry.
