Reception for Scholarship Recipients
rThc Rho Zeta Chapter of Zeta
Phi Beta Socority Inc. held a recep
tion at the Bethlehem Community
Center on June 6 to honor the recip
ients of scholarship awards.
Parents, friends, sorors, Amicae
and former Soiree contestants joined
the "Zeta family" to honor the 1992
and 1993 scholarship winners.
Following a welcome by Emily
C. Harper, basileus of Rho Zeta,
Soror Danetta Fitts explained the
requirements and qualifications of
the scholarship committee. Mem

Entries
Associated Artists of Winston
Sulem announces a call for entries
for Earth Ait, a national juried ait
exhibition. The show will feature
two- and three-dimensional works
with environmental themes, includ
ing landscapes, as well as works
made from recycled, "found" or
natural materials, that reflect
artists- visions and interpretations
of nature and the environment. The
competition is open to all artists
and all fine art media. Several
works will be chosen to receive
cash, purchase and merchandise
awards.
Initial selection of work will
be made from 35 mm slides. The
deadline for slide entries is July l2.
Final judging will be made from
actual works. Accepted work will
be on display in the Associated
Artists and Milton Rhodes Gal
leries of the Sawtooth Building
Sept. 2 through Oct 8.

Summer
Program
High school students will have
an opportunity to explore the work
ings of a museum from the inside
out in a new, week-long summer
experience at the Museum of Early
Southern Decorative Arts
(MESDA) from July 25-31. The
program will be held from 8:30
a.m. to 12:30 p.m. during the week
days. Applications are due no later
than June 25.
The cost of this pilot program
is $125.

Jr., both of A&T; Stephanie Shell of
Campbell University; Tahara Moore
of WSSU; and Catherine Weston of
UNC-Chapel Hill.
Special recognitions included:
members of Omega chapter at
WSSU; Amicae; life members; and
Sorors Gwen H. Ashley and Vivien
King Bright
The Omega members received
tokens from the Rho Zeta chapter.
Soror Cheryl Bradshaw-was
acknowledged as the North Carolina
state director and the 1993 "Zen of
the Year" by the chapter. Also rec
ognized were the parents and
guardians of all recipients.
