Hanes Hosiery Summer "Hot Hoops" : i 1* x Celtics Defeat Lakers 42-39 Rico Bruton poured in 18 points in the 11-14 year-old league and pulled down 15 rebounds, lead ing the Celtics to a 42-39 victory over the Lakers. Kendro Pollard and Jamal Samuels combined for 20 points for the Celtics, while Mario Pitts and Robert Lane chipped in four points each. The Lakers were led by sharp shooting guards Ryan Ottatti, Teddy Fant, Matt Clark, and Carl Potter with six points each. Kevm Wilson and Fareed Rah maan also had nice games for the Lakers combining for 10 points. . Bulls Overpower the Suns Chancey Surles dazzled the crowd in the 11-14 year old league with some beautiful moves and passes and also made a clutch 3-* point play with only 39 seconds left in the game to help lead the Bulls over the Suns in a heart stopping thriller. Surles finished the game with 22 points, while Allen Hall, Tommy McGuinn, Justin Anderson, Joel Justice and Tony Surces all scored for the Bulls. The Suns, who led most of the game, were led by point guard Shaun Williford who also put on a beautiful display of skillful ball han dling and shooting to score 23 points. Josh Bailey and Jake Guar aniano combined for 16 points and 21 rebounds. Steven Lowery and Brandon Harold also turned in fine perfor mances for the Sadg. P Sonic* Doom the Hornets, 47-3? Corey Burchette controlled the boards in the 11-14 year-old league and went inside on his way to 20 points, while Kevin McLean drilled in 12 more and nine assists on beau tiful passes inside to Burchette and Ricky Royster, who scored six points to lead the Sonics over the Hornets 47-39. The Sonics also received some heavy scoring from Brian Mills, Dee Howell, Mark Kato, Kevin Springs, Breion Johnson and Art Brown. The Hornets were led by sharp shooting guards Jordan Lash with 15*points. Chris Blackwell and Mike More hit six points each. Der rick Singleton and Curtis Dervtn led the Hornet rebounding, with the Hornets also getting great team play from Na'in Rahmaan, Akili Mar shall, Duron Starn, Dwayne Hair ston and Robert Adam.
