Held
The Twin City Little League' 12
year-old boys' team was defeated in its
first game by Northwest 21-5. But the
team bounced back and won the game
against Mineral Springs by five points,
with a final score of 8-3. In the third
game of the tournament. Twin City was
knocked out of play by Southwest by
one point and a score of 6-5.
In the 13-year-old division, Twin
City lost in the first game of competi
tion to East Rowan by a wipe-out score
Of 18-3r
Playing in the 15-year-old division,
Twin City defeated Walnut Cove by one
point and a score of 6-5, then lost to
Archdale Trinity, 8-,4 knocking them
out of the playoffs.
The 11- to 12-year-old girls' divi
sion left the Twin City girls defeated by
Walnut Cove 13-5.
The 10- year-old tournament will

North Forsyth High School
holds the No. 1 position in the Sum
mer Basketball League with a
record of seven wins and no losses.
Dam ion Foster is high scorer and
averages 14 points a game. Germain
Crowell^s the man under the net
averaging eight rebounds a game.
West Forsyth holds second
place in the league, with Mike Ruf
fm leading the team with 14 points
and eight rebounds per game.
Bobby McClure is also hot from the
floor with 12 points a game. West
has a record of five wins and only
one loss.
Carver takes the number three
spot with three wins and two losses.
Otis A ttucks is right on key with an
average of 13 points a game, and
Ishman Woodard takes up any slack
under the nets with eight rebounds a
game.
In fourth place, East Forsyth
has won two and lost two. Josh
Pittman averages the highest num
ber of points for the league, sinking
about 24 points a game. Larry Wells
is slick under the net with 10
rebounds a game.
South Stokes, in fifth place,
holds a 2-4 record, with Bud Harden
the No. 1 man scoring an average of
14 points a game and eight
rebounds.
Glenn High School is in sixth
place tied with Forsyth Country Day
School. Both schools hold a one and
two record
Darrell Johnson is terror on the
floor, scoring 18 points a game for
Glenn and recovering 12 rebounds.

Mount Airy holds seventh place
and has a season record of one and
four. Two games were forfeited

rebounds. Brandon Haratt averages
eight points a game.
North Davidson with a zero and
six record has experienced an
unlucky streak, but the season has
only started and things could do a

The high school league has five
games this week, Monday through
Friday beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the

in Nationals

The focus of national amateur
basketball in the United States will
be on the Lawrence Joel Veterans
Memorial Coliseum, July 17-24, as
the city of Winston-Salem hosts
the AAU Junior Boys' National
Basketball Championship.
All-Star teams featuring many
of the premier rising high school
seniors in the country will be tak
ing part in a week-long competi
tion in the coliseum and its annex.
In addition, a number of activities
are planned surrounding the tour
nament to provide entertainment
and education for basketball fans
of all ages.
More than SS teams are
expected to participate in the
championships. Teams are divided
and compete in "pools" for three
days. The Championship Bracket
Play and Tarheel Shootout Tourna
ment begin July 21, with the
