Hicks Headed for Bulls Rookie Camp Derrick Hicks, TormeTWike Forest University center and leading re bounder in ACC competition last year, is headed for the three-time NBA Champion Chicago Bulls rookie training camp. The camp will begin at the Bulls training facility for three days, after which time 10 of the 18 rookie participants will be chosen to repre sent the Bulls at the Rocky Moun tain Revue in Utah. In Utah, the Bulls' squad will scrimmage against 10 other NBA rookie teams in a tournament Hicks' attorney, Mason Ashe, reports that: "General manager of the Bulls, Jerry Krause, is very interested in Hides for his ability to run the floor well for a man of his size, defend against much bigger guy, block shots, rebound, and unselfishly involve his teammates in the flow of the game." Since his college career ended last spring, Hicks has worked with a personal weight trainer to increase his strength and agility. Hicks has played in the semi pro United States Basketball League for the Atlanta Eagles; in France and Greece on a tour team sponsored by NIKE (thanks to Billy Packer); and in several camps attended by European and NBA scouts.
