Where Are All My Beautiful Black Men?
I passed the
comer the other
day
and saw many of my
beautiful black men being taken
away!
~r~ Taken away, through drug-dealing.
Taken away, through crime and stealing.
What are your children going to do?
They'll have very few beautiful black men to look up to.
Where are the strong black family ties?
Everyday, it seems one of my beautiful black men dies.
Some mommas on dope, some daddies on crack.
All these drugs are taking us back 1
Taking us back to slavery time,
where we had no chance or choice.
Look at what you're choosing today.
Guns over peace,
Hate over love,
Drugs over working
Ignorance over education,
Profanity over respect
Low self-esteem over high self-esteem.
DEATH over JJFEW
So who's pulling the noose today?

In the end, it's not the man.
My beautiful black men, you do not have to partake
of everything that is put before you.
Choose, choose, choose. Wake up, wake up,

Oh, world, of love, and hatred of mankind
For years, I have rated you innocently blind
The portion, you allotted me was, oh, so bitterly sweet
Though, I met the challenge, I was still served defeat.
Now, I have infiltrated, your grand stupendous pretense
This game you played many years, keeping me on defense
^ You, also, offered resentment and spreaded it abroad
f And didn't care that my well being, couldn't emerge unmarred
Ha! Ha! The game is over, you have been found out
Truth drives falsehood into the heat of a drought
/ I AM SOMEBODY! the same as all
No longer, does my insides, quiver from a squall
I live. I exist. And I've survived thus far.
Flickers of light that teased my parents are wider than ajar
I AM SOMEBODY! My past has come to light
So going forward with my life, I can forget that rumored plight
Obscured vision jumbles the mind, sending signals that's unclear
And though the conscience relates you're somebody, you're still
, engulfed in fear
Many times the conscience is right, it being a great lie detector
So feed it knowledge, wisdom and truth to make it your protector
Now, again I say, "I AM SOMEBODY," the same as you, and you
I love, I hate, 1 need, I desire, the same as others do
Let us walk together, giving respect to one another
Remember, to eliminate hatred, we must treat all as a brother
Come walk with me, side by side, let's rejoice that each is different
And, that all are free of not being like me, makes us colorful,
unique and eloquent
So, whoever you are, wherever you live, don't walk with your
head hung low'
For this world is cruel, assaulting and battering, caring nothing
of your woe.
But, together, let us walk a ways and hear each other's concern
For I know that when we communicate, things from each other
we learn
I'll share my goals, you share yours, and maybe some inner-most
thought
For trust, friendship and respect for life, units us as it ought
The way of this world has boasted in error for millenniums, ?
