The Inspirational Choir of Morning Star Baptist Church . i ? to Choir to Celebrate 25th Anniversary The Inspirational Choir of Morn ing Star Baptist Church will cele- , brate its 2Sth anniversary this Sun- ? day at 4 p.m. Bishop Theodore Rice and the congregation of Mercy Seat Holy Church will be guests. The public is invited. Choir members who have served 25 years will be recognized during a service this Saturday at 6 p.m. Deacon John Henry Benson organized the choir in 1968 under the leadership of Aretha Broadway and Albert Samuels. The late Ernesteen Timmons was the first president. The choir was then named the Morning Star Baptist Church Young Adult Choir. ? Deacon Thomas Scales and Sadie Beal were then elected advi sors to the choir. In 1979 the choir's name was changed to the Gospel Choir, and in 1986, the name was again changed to the Inspiration Choir. The following people have been choir members for 25 years: Thaddeaus McCollum, who was a director and is currently an organist arid minister of music; Frazier McCollum, who plays the key boards and piano; Beatrice Rory and Deborah S. Smith, both sopra nos; Arizona Kindle? an alto; and Deborah E. Smith, a tenor. The church is located at 1400 Fitch St. The Rev. Donald L. Salley is pastor. Church to Observe Women's Dav ? Bethlehem ? A.M.E. ? Zion Church will observe Women's Day this Sunday at 3 p.m. Janice K$nnedy-Sloan, the first lady of Goler Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church, will be the speaker. ? Miss Bethlehem will also be crowned during the program. Sloan is vice president of Stu dent Development Services for the State of North Carolina Community I Colleges System. I She is married to the Rev. James Sloan, pastor of Goler Metro politan A.M.E. Zion Church. Sloan is a graduate of Alabama State College, where she received a ? Janice Kennedy-Sloan bachelor of science degree in mod ern foreign languages. She also holds a master's degree in French and a doctoral degree in higher edu cation management. She has instituted several pro jects for the state and completed a number of publications. Sloan is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She has also received the Outstanding Educator's Award. The public is invited. . The church is located at 6475 Old Yadkinville Highway. Shirley Phillips is the Women's | Day chairperson. The Rev. William Gullick is the host pastor. Church to Celebrate Homecoming '93 Union Baptist Church will cele brate Homecoming 1993 this Sun day. This has been an annual event for the church since 1966. The theme of the 11 a.m. ser | vice will be "Come As You Are." i Members and friends are encouraged to dress casually. Dinner will be served immedi ately following the service. Families are asked to bring dinner baskets and share their foods at the church's outdoor pavilion. The Rev. Joseph N. Parks and the congregation of Yadkin Grove Baptist Church will be the guests at the 3 p.m. service. The public is invited. The Rev. B.R Daniels is pastor. Antioch Continues Revival Services Antioch New Birth Church of Christ will hold its annual revival through Sept. 18. The Rev. C. Rucker, pastor of f St Paul Missionary Baptist Church, will be the evangelist for the week. Nightly services will be at 7 p.m. Elder J.W. McCullough is the host pastor.
