Deaths and Funerals 3 Russell's Funeral Home 822 Carl Russell Ave. 722-3459 BROWN Jeny Lee brown of 913 Gray Ave. died Sept. 14 at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. He was a native of Forsyth County. He was bom Jan. 16, 1950 to the late Genieve and William Brown. He was a Methodist. He was a graduate of Forsyth Technical Communi ty College and Winston-Salem State University and a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a former employee of R J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and served as a community volunteer at tne Crisis Control (Renter. Brown is survived by four sisters, Shirley Somme of Queens, N.Y., Thelma Gindratt of Runnemede, N.J., Louise Taylor of Detroit and Gloria Stevenson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 19 nieces and nephews; four erandnieces; his devoted friends, Theodore "Teddy" Moore ana Ulysses Bethea, both of Winston-Salem; plus many other relatives and friends. BROWN Willie Lee ("Fat Baby" or "Bill") Brown of 4222 Garden St. died Sept. 12 at Forsytn Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Atlanta. He was bom March 9, 1923 to the late Joshua and Hattie Brown. After spending many years in Anderson, S.C., he moved to Winston-Salem about St) years ago. He Was a tormer member of Mars Hill Baptist Church and a retired employee of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco to. Brown is survived by his wife, Burnell Brown of the home; 10 children, Leona Gattison Cook, Wilma Brown, Angela Brown, Johnnie R. Gattison, Daniel Eugene Brown, Christopher J. (Esther) Reid, Anthony Reid and Queen Hecks, all of Winston-Salem, Sgt. Alexander (Anita) Reid of Fort Wautusi, Ariz, and Katherine (Richard) Weber of Durham; a devoted granddaughter, Lakeychia Reid of the home; 15 grandchildren; a devoted cousin, AarOtT(Adlee) Glover of Anderson, S.C.;*plus many other relatives and friends. She was a native of Fairfield County, S.C. and had lived in Winston-Salem since 1934. She was a faithful member of Zion Memorial Baptist Church, where she served as a former President of the Southern Missionary Circle and a Sunday chool teacher. She was a retired employee of R J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., Whitaker Park facility, with over 41 years of service. She was a member of the Old Town Community Club. ? ? ? ~ Covington is. survived by her husband, John C. "J.C." Eldridge of 625 W. Sixth St. died Sept. 1 1 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Rural Hall. He was the son of the late Leslie and Alta Eldridge. He was educated in the Rural Hall and Winston-Salem public schools. He was called into the ministry in 1953. He pastored in Walkertown, Bridgeport, Conn., Akron, Ohio, and at Malieu and Jones Temple in Mt. Airy. Eldridge is survived by his wife, Willie M. Eldridge of the home; two foster daughters, Mary Walker and Paulette Brock ington, both of Seabrook, Md.; one brother, the Rev. Arthur Eldridge of Rural Hall; one sister-in-law, Ila Eldridge of Rural Hall; one sister, Katv M. Lee of Washington, D.C.; three aunts, Selena Sheff of Ogburn Station, Inez Mitchell of Rural hall and Savannah Oaks of Winston-Salem; several nieces and , nephews; plus many other relatives and friends. Services were neld Sept. 15 at St. James United Methodist Church in Rural Hall, witn the Rev. Harry Burchell officiat ing. Burial followed in the church cemetery. He was born May 19. 1953 to the late Sarah B. Frost. He was a Methodist. He was a graduate of Reynolds High School, Class of 1971. and received an associate degree from Guilford Technical Com munity College and a bachelor s degree in nursing from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas.. He was a former employ ee of Reynolds Health Center, wnere he worked as a registered nurse. Little is survived by one sister, Linda Little of the home; two brothers. THACKER Jerry Lee Thacker of 4396 Kenleigh Road died Sept. 17 at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. He was a native of Forsyth County. He was bom to the late Andrew and Lillian Tnacker. He was a member of Philadelphia Holiness Church. He was a graduate of Atkins High School, Class of 1965, and attended Forsyth Technical Community College. He was a self-employed auto mechanic. He was a native of Rural Hall but had lived in Winston Salem for a number of years. He was a former employee of the Rural Hall Veneering Company. He was a Holiness. Hickman is survived by his mother, Qumillar King Hines of Winston-Salem; his father, Herman Bill Hickman of Penn sylvania; his stepfather, Irvin Hines Sr. of Winston-Salem; Five sisters, Loretta Polk.
