Amid Homecoming's Pageantry The former Ram quarterback laughed and remembered: "I could never go to the parties because of game pitptrtiion and it isn't much different now. But I will enjoy it from a coach's standpoint." Toni Rheddick, who works in the Alumni and Title III offices at the school, is a graduate of Rutledge Business College, but is really look ing forward to homecoming. "Everyone shares the school spirit this week," she said. And they all can forget their troubles . . . at least for the weekend. " A special event that Rheddick said she will always look forward to is the Or School House Party on Saturday night. "I met my husband-to-be there last year." she said. "And I look forward to seeing my special friend, Patricia Mobley Hairston, who dresses in red and white all week." Hairston, secretary for the Alumni Association, said this week also meant a lot of work for her. And for Kevin Manns, the sports information director. "But it's a chance to see family and friends," said the 1990 Guilford* Cttlltfgt graduate. "My hrothfr Pn? sell Manns is a 1988 (WSSU) grad uate who now works for Pepsi in Detroit. I get to see him with an unusual amount of excitement involved." Nikki Adkins, a sophomore from Richmond, Va.., said simply: "It's a celebration for everyone to get together and have a good time." Senior James Hampton was a bit more solemn in his comments. "It s a gathering of the Ram family," he said* pointing out that - his aunt, Carline Hampton, is a 1963 WSSU graduate. Manderline Scales, who has worked at Winston-Salem State for 25 years, was emphatic in saying: "It means big work for me." Scales is chairman of the Homecoming Ca^npus Committee, who proudly was telling her com mittee that the Saturday parade through downtown Winston-Salem will have 15 to 20 floats as well as 10 bands.
