Packers Conclude Their Second Consecutive Undefeated Season By MICHAEL JOHNSON Chronicle Sports Wnter The Pfafftown Packers Jr. Pee Wee team concluded their second consecutive undefeated season by pounding the Kemersville Raiders 33-0 in Pop Warner action last Sat urday. The Packers now have won 23 straight games and kept their hopes alive for a second straight national championship. The Packers will play 6-1-1 Lewisville, who lost to the Packers 26-7 three weeks ago, in the upcoming playoffs. The Packers had 257 yards rushing while holding Kemersville (2-6) to only 38 yards in the contest. "We played well on defense today," said Jr. PeeWee coach Mark McDaniel, whose team recorded its seventh shutout of the season. "We worked very hard to get to this point and our challenge is to see how far we can go." Jason Speas led the Packers' rushing attack with 87 yards and a touchdown, followed by Jacob Hop kins' 67 yards and two scores. The Kemersville Mighty Mite team kept pace wfth Lewisville in the American Conference division edging out a 24-18 win. The Packers took a 16-0 halftime lead on a 32-yard run Corey Lane and a 9-yard score by Cameron Rose. But the Packers came back courtesy of a 180-yard second-half effort by ! .'ominic Mouzon. Mouzon ran in two touchdowns covering 20 and 50 yards and set up Travis Brewer's score with a 40-yard burst. In a battle of two 2-6 Flag teams, the Packers were able to take a 19-13 win on the strength of three long touchdown runs. Dante Payne scored on runs of 59 and 44 yards to sandwich a Tcrrence Campbell TD that covered 63 yards. Kernersville led 6-0 at the end of the half when Kyle Moore scored on a reverse with five seconds remaining. Moore scored on the exact play with less than five min utes left to tie the game at 13-13 before Payne scored the winhing touchdown with 1:24 left. The PeeWee Packers ran its record to 7-1-1 with a 24-0 victory. The Packers ran out to a 18-0 half time lead by forcing three Raider turnovers. The Packers will face Mineral Springs in the playoffs next week. The Kernersville Raiders for feited their Jr. Bantam game against the Pfafftown Packers 1-0 to drop their record to 2-7.
