Mint Condition Holds Workshop and Concert at WSSU By DAVID L. DILLARD Chronicle Suff Writer Popular R&B group Mint Con dition and rap aitist Drcd Scott held a workshop and free concert at Winston-Salem State University last Thursday. During the two-hour workshop at the Anderson Center, the group members gave insight on various segments of the recording industry including record production, how to ? - market your product, and how to develop your own sound and tour. jfltfer that night, a free concert ? which was open to the general - public ? was held at Williams Auditorium where Mint Condition performed songs from their new album and old classics, including the signature release "Breakin My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)." Don Clemons, of Perspective Records, said the visit to Winston Salem is part of the group's nation wide black college tour to promote the new album. Members of R&B Group Mint Condition. Salvation Army Participated in National Boys Program v.W Boys club participated in Make A Difference Day . The Salvation Army Boys Club of Winston-Salem participated in a National Boys Club program enti tled "You can make a difference Saturday, Oct. 23, 1993 form 12-8 p.m. The purpose of this program was to create a meaningful day for our community. The Boys Club staff felt since we are a Salvation Army Boys Club, that we should do something for those individuals staying in our shelter. There were 34 participants from the shelter and 35 volunteers and staff who partici pated in a variety of fun-filled activ ities including a basketball shoot out, card games, board games, pool, bumper pool, football, food and lots of fun. Each individual also "received a gift bag. The staff mem bers that helped make this day a success, were as follows: Joan Mor ris, Kendrick Lowry, Ronald Bethune, James Smith, and Faye Jones. The Salvation Army Boys Club serves young men between the ages of 6-18 an our membership is $25 for the entire school year. If any one is interested in enrolling their son in our program call 788-5761 between the hours of 12-8 p.m. and ask for one of the staff members and they will be able to answer your ques tions.
