Ebonv Fashion F air < Conduce Michelle Bishop , daugh ter of Shirley People Bishop, was crowned Miss Ebony Fashion Fair at the show Friday , Oct 29, at the Benton Convention Center. She was the winner of a $1,000 scholarship award from the Urban League Guild. Candace is a senior at Parkland High School Resident Elected Homecoming Queen at WCU Mercedes Miller Meiccdes L. Miller of 4000 Sylvia St, was elected Homecoming Queen at Western Carolina Univer sity this fall. Miller was one of eight mem bers elected to the Homecoming court in student voting prior to Homecoming weekend Oct. 2-3. She was nominated by the WCU Organization of Ebony Students. A senior majoring in speech Workshop to be Held The Employment and Training Division of the Winston-Salem Urban League will be conducting a three day Employability Skills Training Workshop beginning Monday, Nov. 8. The worktop will be held at the Urban League, 201 W. Fifth Street and will run daily from 9 a.m. until noon. Workshop sessions will focus on (1) The World of Work, (2) Proper Application Completion, (3) Interviewing Techniques, (4) Job Lead Sources, and (5) Record Keeping and Follow-ups. There will also be a session devoted to mock interviewing of workshop participants as well as an introduc tion to the self-directed job search process.
