Cyrene Crusaders and Knights Templar Host First Awards Banquet - Elizabeth Court #7 Order of Cyrene Crusaders, Knights Tem plar Excellent Commandry #7 of Winston-Salem and Knights Tem ? plar Prelate #10 of Walkertown hosted the First Awards Banquet in the honor of the recently chartered Cyrene Court in Winston-Salem. More than one hundred mem bers, family members and friends enjoyed a seven course meal at the Masonic Hall on 14th Street. The hall was adorned with elaborate Christmas Decorations. Royal Princess Commadress Pat Rhodes-Landingham and chief engineer Weldon Day hosted the event. Special guest were Cyrene District Deputy Emma McDougal of High Point, chief engineer George Garlington of High Point, Order of the Eastern Stnr Grand District Deputy Ricky Wilson, members of Cyrene Court of High Point, Bernice D. Murrell of Forsyth Funeral Home, Princess Ann Johnson of the Traveling Wonder Girls, worthy matron elect Bessie Henderson of Meridian Chapter #308. Also guest Loyal Lady Ruler Willie Mae Saunders of the Order of the Golden Circle and the Rev. Paul Lowe of Shiloh Bap tist Church who gave the prayer for peace. Other members present were Princess Service Award Presented The Piedmont Triad N.C. Chapter of the Alzheimer's Asso ciation has presented its 1993 Gladys Cain Pulliam Award for service to Alzheimer patients and their families to Judith R. Owen. This award was presented to Owen in recognition of the outstanding contributions she has made both as Director of the Adult Day Care and Alzheimer's Center in Win ston-Salem and as an Alzheimer's family support group leader. The award was presented at the Chapter's Annual Meeting held Nov. 30. The Chapter also presented its first Mary Frances and Ambrose Cram Leadership Award to Diane Balcom, Past President of the Alzheimer's Con sortium of North Carolina, and the Stand By Me Award to Sammie Hodges with Senior Services of Davidson County. Partners in Car ing Aiwards were presented to nineteen individuals and organiza tions in recognition of their many genetous contributions to the Chapter over the past year. The Annual Meeting also gave the Chapter an opportunity to install new officers and Board members. Officers for the coming year include Homer E. Fairchild of Davie County as President, Cheryl Callahan of Guilford County as Vice-President, Allyn Bell of Davie County as Treasurer and Charlene Johnson of Forsyth County as Associated Treasurer. Tatum was awarded the Engineer ^>f the Year Award. Each commit tee member was awarded a ceritifi cate of appreciation. Jack & Jill Fellowship With Sunrise Towers The Winston-Salem Chapter of Jack and Jill, Inc. hosted a holiday fellowship with the residents of Sunrise towers on Sunday, Dec. 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. Christmas orna ments which were made by the resi dents and the children of Jack and Jill were placed on the Christmas tree that everyone took part in deco rating. As refreshments were served. everyone joined in Christmas carol ing. The children of Jack and Jill presented each resident with a Christmas gift. Jack and Jill is a National Organization of African American families which focuses on the educational, social and cultural growth of children.
