Church Celebrates 43rd Anniversary
New Hope Missionary Baptist
Church will celebrate its 43rd
anniversary on Sunday, May 22 at 3
p.m. The special guest will he the
Rev. Douglas E. Summers and con
gregation of Mt. Pleasant Baptist
Church.
Summers is a native of Win
ston-Salem and was educated in the
public schools. He completed his
undergraduate work at Winston
Salem State University where he
received a Bachelor of Arts Degree
in History. He further studied at
Hood Theological Seminary in
Degree at Southeastern Baptist The
ological Seminary in Wake Forest
He has also furthered his studies at
Baptist Hospital in the Clinical Pas
toral Education and in the program
of Parish Base with emphasis on
Conflict Management. He presently
in candidacy status for the Doctoral
Ministry Degree at Northern Baptist
Theological Seminar) in Lombard.

He is the former pastor of the
Rising Star Baptist in Walnut Cove*
where he pastored for seven years.
He is also a former Chaplin of the
Forsyth Prison Chaplaincy, serving
for five years Since. 11>S7. he is
serving as Pastor of the Mount
Pleasant Baptist Church.
He serves on the F-inance Com
mittee tc^ the Lott Carey Conven
tion. President of the Board of
Directors of the Love Community
Choir. Board Member of the Win
ston-Salem National L'rban League.
Board Member of the Prodigal
Community Ministries, and active
in many other .committees and
boards locally.
He is married to the former
Pamela Bohannon. and they have
three sons and one daughter. Ryan.
