J J Fraternity Elects McCaskill As N.C. State Director \ . ? ? ? . Reginald D. Me^askill was recently elected the new North Car olina State Director of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. at the North Carolina State Conference in Char lotte. McCaskill is very excited about his new post. His goals for Sigma in-the state is to be a positive and/ proactive force in the African American community by providing itself as a vehicle of reinvestment and to maintain the positive rela tionship with young African-Ameri can males, in our community throughl the Sigma Beta Club. Regi nald s a 1985 gradviate of Winston Salem State University. He is mar ried to Aimee Z. McCaskill and has one son Christian Alexander McCaskill. . McCaskill is employed by the City of Winston-Salem (Workforce Development Department) as a Job Training Specialist. His position specialize in youth development. Reginald i? a very active mem ber of the new Alpha Alpha Gamma Sigma Alumni Chapter of Winston Salem were he is a charter member and was president for the last two years. He is a member of the Cleve land Ave. Christian Church where he is the director of the Youth and Adult Choirs. , ? . - *" ' *** *'* Reginald D. McCaskill Miss . Alpha Upsilon" at the 25th Annual Artist of Tomorrow Bal lare held at the Anderson Center on the Winston-Salem State Uni versity Campus. , The Artist of Tomorrow Bal lare is a Scholarship Benefit spon sored by Gamma Phi Delta Soror ? ity. Inc. This year marked the 50th ? year celebration of the sorority. The theme was "A Night of Gold." ' . i Georgei Johnson was. the v Master of Ceremony. Proceeds from the Ballure were used to give scholarships. Die scholarships recipients" were Renee Johnson. LaTronva McCol lum. Nakeia Wyche, Kisha Felder" and Shana Mobly.r. Monika Jbyce received the "Miss Congeniality Award". . ; Tenille Richardson received *he "Young. Performing Artist Award" and Tara Travis received the "High Scholastic Award" *for acaden>ic excellence. Guest artist performing at the Ballare were Sabrina Hunter. Quincy Lundy. Veronica Jdnes, Faustina Holeman and Latisha Jones. Choreographer for this year's Ballare was Jimmie Sudler. Mary Brim is the Banilieus of the Alpha Upsilon Chapter. Ruby Royal. Jones and Worthy Patron Carnell O'Neal A plaque for outstanding and dedicated service along with a gift was also presented to Jones by Sister Rosa Cunningham. McGowens Sr. NAUW Installs New Officers The National Association of l'ni\ersit\ Women Winston- Salem Branch closed thi^ year's activities with a delicious dinner at the home' of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Staten of the Hunter Hills section of the city. "Bighouse" Gaines was recognized with the Boy' Scouts of America's highest national honor for service to youth. - The Silver Buffalo, during their May national meeting at the Opry larui Hotel in 'Tennessee. ? As one of only nine Silver Buf falo recipients nation wide for 1994, Gaines was recognized for his life-long service to young peo ple through his tenure as Winston Salem State. University head basket - hall coach from 1946-1993. and through service to youth in many other areas, in both athletics and community service. ? Gaines is only the eight North Carolinian to receive the Silver Buffalo in it 69 year history, and shares the honor with other great Americans that include past Presi dent. military heroes, sports stars and civic and religious leaders.
