She was a member ol Mount Olive Baptist Church and an active member ol the Women's Sunday School Class, the Senior Choir and the former UDC Club. For the past 20 years. she was employed at Wake Forest University in the Food Services Division. She was preceded in death by her husband. John, and her parents. Harry and Annie Shivers. BOWMAN Mr. Morris Bowman Jr.. ol 1300 N Cleveland Ave. in Winston-Salem, died Oct. 12 unexpectedly at*North Carolina Baptist Hospital. Bowman and Jeron Smith, both of Winston-Salem; his maternal grandmother, Jessie Mines, of the home; three aunts. Willietta Cunningham, Cynthia Boy^ man and Ollie Frazier; one uncle, Eddie Mines; a great aunt, Earline Yates; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Oct. 17 at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. J R. Samuels presiding. Burial followed at Ever green Cemetery. Russell Funeral Directors were in charge of arrangements. LINDSAY Mr. Robert "Bobby" Franklin Lindsay, of 1340 Wentworth Rd. in Winston-Salem, died Oct. 13 at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. He was born Aug. 13, 1933 to Bettie Bost Lindsay and Lorenzo Bailey. Bobby was a former employee <>| K&W Cafeteria for more than 30 years as cook supcrv isor. DAVIS Mr Marcus Lamont Davis, of 2037 Thurmond Si in Winston-Salem, died Oct. 13 at North Caroli na Baptist I lospital. He was born June 2X. 1974 in Winston-Salem, lie was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School Sy stem He was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church. Me was a caring per son. a devoted father and was loved by everyone w ho knew him. He is survived by his fiance, N-Kcnya Stover, and his son. Devonte Davis; his mother, Mary A. Davis; Ins brother. Roderick Davis; a devoted aunt and uncle. Martha and William Carpenter; one great aunt, Lorraine Robinson; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Oct. 18 at Union Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kinnie G. Robinson presiding. Burial fol lowed at4ivergreen Cemetery. Russell Funeral Directors were in charge of arrangements. MOORE Mrs. Marrietta German Moore, of the Nursing Center at Oak Summit in Winston-Salem, died Oct. 14 at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. She was a native of Montgomery, Ala., and lived most of her adult life in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Winston-Salem, about two years ago. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness and was employed with Trinitron Corporation in New York. She is survived by two grandchildren. Michael Blanchette, of Sandersville, Ga., and Michelle Ellington, of Winston-Salem; two great grandchildren; Mark Ellington II and Josiah Blanchette; a niece, Catherine Kirkland, of Winston-Salem; a son-rrr-iaw, Barrington Blanchette; a grandson-in-law, Mark Hllington; and a numbcr^of other relatives and friends. PURYEAR Z Mr. Sam "Jim" Puryear Sr.. of 7185 Fisher IU1 in Tobaccoville, died Wednesday at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. He was botln in Yadkin County on June 7. 1922. to Sam arid Francy Thorton Puryear. He was a former chair man of the Board of Trustees and Sunday school teacher at Benbow Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in East Bend. He is preceded in death by his Grand son; the Rev. Christopher Ray Puryear. Surviving are his wife. Almeter Smith Puryear. one daughter. Mary Francis Puryear. three sons; the Rev. Sam Henry (Beverly) Puryear Jr.. the R<i\. William Hayes (Syterial) Puryear. and Alfred Puryear. all of Tobaccoville; one sister.
