Grier, age 86, of 1702 New Walkertown Road, was called home to be with the Lord on Dec. 27 at his residence. He was born on Jan. 17, 1915, to the late Parks and Daisy Grier in Winston-Salem. He retired from'the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. after serving 32 faithful years as a factory worker. Mr. Grier was a member of Hanes CME Church, where he was a steward and served on the Senior Usher Board. He also was an avid gardener and a veteran of World War 11. He was preceded in death by: his parents. Parks and Daisy Grier; his wife, Maggie W. Grier, broth ers Otto, Nathaniel, Weldon, Paul and Frank; sisters Annie Bell, Nannie, Mattie. Catherine and Mary Jane. Mr. Grier leaves to cherish his loving memories: two sons. Rudolph Pearson of New York City and Michael Grier of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Betty Jean Pearson of Brooklyn, N.Y, and "Mary-Alice" Youngblood of Chicago, 111.; two brothers. Mr. Columbus Reid, 82. of 958 Cotton Grove Road, Lexing fon, departed this life Dec. 29 at his home following several years 6f illness. Mr. Reid was born on Sept. 29, 1919, in County, Ga. He Jained Tabernacle Baptist Church in Augusta, Ga., at an early age <nd was employed by Augusta Arson Inc. In 1942, "Reid," as he (as called, moved to Lexington. N.C., and joined Friendship Bap tist Church, where he faithfully served as a trustee, usher and jreeter. He was employed by Lexington Chair Co. and Philpott furniture, retiring after many years of service. Reid was married in 1945 to Clara Mae Smalley. He was a devoted husband and was tpved by all who knew him. He leaves to cherish his memories: A loving wife of 56 years, Clara Mae; three sisters, Azaree Cunby, Mamie H. Latham, and Mary A. Barrow (Charlie) all of Augusta, Ga.; one brother, James Reid of Brooklyn, N.Y.; eight sisters-in law, Yvonne Reid and Bertha D. Reid of Augusta, Ga., Pearline S. Darthard. Juanita Smalley, Mylo S. WALTON Mr. David Junior Walton, age 63, of 621 Burton Street, passed on Jan. 6 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center fol lowing a period of illness. Mr. Walton was born March 28, 1938, in Anderson, S.C., a son of the late Betsy and David Walton. Mr. Walton was a retired employee of Piedmont Leaf Tobacco Co. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Geneva Allen Wal ton; a daughter. DAVIS Ms. Mildred Graham Davis, 72, of 829 Rosecrest Drive, High Point, died Jan. 10 at High Point Regional Hospital. She was he daughter of the late Marie and William Whitfield. Mrs. Davis was bon on March 4, 1929, in Marlboro County. She was preceded in death by: three brothers, James T? William R. and Lorenza Whit field; and one sister. Willie Mae Whitfield. She was a child-care provider for more than 30 years. She was also an active member of First Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on the Senior Choir and the Nurses Board, and was a former worker with the Junior Choir. He was born in Hartsville, S.C., on Dec. 18, 1925, to the late Hairston Burrell Sr. and Rosa Beasley Burrell. He was preceded in passing by, a brother, Alexander Burrell, and a sister. Queen Bur rell Reid. He was a former member of New Bethel Baptist Church and later became a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the ministry of Dr. Kelly O.P. Goodwin. He<tvas active with the St. John's Layman League at Mt. Zion. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. "Red" was the proprietor of the Exxon service station at Highway 311 and Bowen Boulevard during the 1970s. He retired from Sun Chemical Co. after more than 20 years of service. She was a native of Ridgeway, S.C., and a resident of New York for most of her life where she retired as a private duty nurse. She attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County public schools. Mrs. Aiken was a member of Second Cal vary Baptist Church, fcvhere she served in the Willing Workers Club and in the Sunday school department. In the community she was a member of the Rose of Sharon community and Happy Hearts Savings clubs. She was preceded it) death by her husband, James W. Aiken. Surviving are: three daughters, Zaytuna Aiken of Winston-Salem, Hylema Bell of New York, N.Y., and Sedequa W.
