Religion Holy Party BET will air its second annu al Gospel Celebration next week. The event will feature some of today's hottest gospel music artists as well as some pop and R&B artists with a penchant for the genre. Lartey, pastor of Goler Memorial AME Zion Church, will return for a second year to actress the 28th annual Leadership Observance at New Bethel Baptist Church on Sunday, Feb. 17, at 4 p.m. The observance is sponsored by the deacons, trustees and their spouses. Lartey will be accompanied by his choirs and congregation. For the past nine years, Lartey, a native of Liberia, has pastored Goler Memorial. He is a graduate of undergraduate schools in West Africa. He received a bachelor of arts degree in education from Livingstone College and a master's degree from Duke University Divinity School. He has completed addi tional studies and received a doc toral degree from Hood Theolog ical Seminary. Lartey is very active in the community and the AME Zion Conference. He is a co-chair of the Goler Community Develop ment Corp. and is spearheading the Goler Renaissance Project. Most recently, Lartey received a message from God: "Your dream is not under attack; it's about to be . born." Lartey is married to Jacque line Williams Laitey and is the proud father of three children, Solomon, Alicia and Victoria. Others appearing on the pro gram will be: presiding. Emmanuel Baptist Church | gives stroke screenings to 75 SPECIAL TO THK CHRONICLE The Senior Nurses Board of Emmanuel Baptist Church in conjunction with Wake Forest University' Baptist Medical Center, sponsored a stroke screen ing on Saturday. Feb. 2. at the church. About 75 people were screened for risk factors associated with stroke. They had their cholesterol, blood pressure and blood glucose checked, Cnnnspl ing was provided to every one. Special instructions were given to high-risk individuals. Rev.
