Youth/Young Adult Day of
New Bethel Baptist Church.
His choir and some members
of his congregation will

Posey has been chosen as this
year's youth/young adult
chairperson. Brian Murrill
"will serve as acting pastor.
This year's theme is "Keeping
the Faith Through Turbulent
Times."
Mcllwain is the youngest
of four children of Geraldine
Mcllwain and the late Rev.
William Mcllwain. He was
blessed to have been brought
up in a Christian environment
and to have participated in
numerous church affiliations
and organizations. He was
affectionately called "Little
Rev" growing up as he fol
lowed his father's ministry
<like his shadow.
At age 17, the tragic death
of his father put him through a
period of grief that shook the
essence of his being. The con
solation shown by family
members and friends along
with the
spiritual
adoption
by Rev.

months later, he graduated
from Irma High School and
was awarded a scholarship to
attend North Greenville Col
lege, where he received a
bachelor of arts degree in the
ology in December 1998.
While in college, he spoke at
chapel services, worked with
Christian Camp Crusades and
organized a "testimonial min
istry" for students dealing
with grief and bereavement.
He is now working on a
master's of divinity degree in
Christian studies at Gordon
Conwell Theological Semi
nary in Charlotte.
In addition to pastoring,
Mcllwain is a personal banker
for Bank of America.

earnest passion for the Lord
and hopes to be a humble min
ister for
God and
be a posi

Vernon C. King was born
Sept. 6. 1960, in Atlanta. Ga. He
is the youngest child born to
Naomi B. King and the late Rev.
A.D. Williams King Sr. From an
early age, Vernon C. King was

ministry of his late father, his
late grandfather (Daddy King)
and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

On April 12. 1987. King
was ordained at the historic
Ebenezer Baptist Church. He
served as senior pastor of Spirit
Creek Baptist Church in Augus
ta. Ga.. from 1992-97. He also
served as the senior pastor of
First Baptist Church in Fair
mont. N.C., from June 1997 to
December 2000.
He is a highly requested
speaker and evangelist through
out the United States. He sings
gospel music and became a
gospel recording artist when he
recorded "The Lord Will Make
a Way" on the Sincere record
label He is currently the senior
pastor of Saint James Baptist
Church in Greensboro.
He is a community activist
who serves humanity locally
and nationally. He is a member
of the Greensboro Pulpit
