The program has been established to rec ognize and honor persons in the Winston-Salem commu nity whose work and labor will have a long lasting impact on our immediate society and the world com munity at large. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees in music education from the University of North Carolina at Greens boro. She teaches music in the local school system and works with St. John Church. She is married and has one son. Marion "Pete" Thomas is the organist. He is a product of the city schools and a graduate of Winston Salem State Uni versity. He studied piano and morgan with Dr. Lee Beall and Dr. Winston Bell. He is a for mer organist of Goler Metro politan and Shiloh Baptist Churcll He works at Winston Salem State University in the Upward Bound program, Gilmore's Funeral Home and is organist and minister of music at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Patricia Sokoloff is the harpist for this year's perform ance. She founded the harp department while working at the N.C. School of the Arts. She teaches harp at Salem Col lege.
