Curators of the Arts Winners Left to right: W.T. Jenkins of the hoard of directors of N.C. Black Repertory Company; Curator of the Arts winner Eric Lowery; Annie Mae Johnson, mother of Larty Leon Hamlin; and Curator of the Arts winner Hashim Saleh. Lowery is the head of the YMCA's Boss Drummers, a popular drumming group made up of young people. Saleh is the director of the Otesha Creative Arts Ensemble. The group is well known for its African dance and drumming.
