Street and Glenn Avenue. Ten ? members exhibiting a fearless I and daring spirit, but meek ! and modest, began service for God. From these determined ) charter members. Union Mis J sion Sanctified Church was J organized. It was later J renamed Kimberly Park Holi ? ness Church. J The 10 members were: t Elder Frank Caesar, the first ? pastor; Elder W.M. Smith. > assistant pastor; Solomon M. ! Caesar, a deacon; Wesley I Caesar; Garfield Davis, a dea con; Nellie Caesar; the widow J of the first pastor; Willie Cae J sar, a deacon; David Caesar; ; Jim Caesar; Agnes Caesar; ? and Winnie Gray, who served ? as the first church mother . ? By 1920 the membership ? had grown to about 35. With i God's guidance and Rev. ! Frank Caesar's willingness, J they purchased the present I church lot on Burton Street J for $450. In 1923, a frame ? structure was built at a cost of J $1,000. It was a crude struc ; ture, but a place to worship < and praise God. In 1924 Elder Frank Caesar died. Elder > Solomon Caesar became pas ! tor after he had been preach ! ing for about four months. Also at this time, Wesley { Caesar was ordained as dea ' con. Under his leadership, ?" several projects were under ? taken, such as enclosing the ? basement, installing lights. . buying new pews. These proj I ects increased the indebted ! ness to $1,800. In 1934, a new building was completed, including a sanctuary, a small dining room, kitchen, sanitary rest rooms for men and women, and the stairway leading to the basement. A large electric sign bearing the names of the church and pastor was erected on the front. In 1958. a rally was held in which members and friends made pledges to buy bricks. As a result, an education building was constructed, with classrooms, superintend ent and secretary offices, pas tor's study, modern kitchen and bathrooms for men and women. Also, the main audi torium was remodeled at a cost of about $35,001). These are just some of the things, through God's help and guid ance, that Bishop Solomon Caesar, the pastor at that time, accomplished. We also would like to thank these pastors who suc ceeded Bishop Solomon Cae sar for helping us to get to where we are today: Bishop Theodore R. Rice, the grand son of the late Frank Caesar and the nephew of .Bishop Solomon Caesar; Bishop Lawerance S. Tate; Elder Hilton Stone; Elder Paul Sharard. And we thank God for our present pastor. Elder Robert Edmond. Under his leader ship. we are getting ready to take on a big task (rebuilding the sanctuary), and with the help of the members and God on our side, we will be able to fulfill this task. We have heard about the past and we know about the present, but only God knows about the future of Kimberly Park Church. Today we are happy to be celebrating 83 years. The church has eight active auxiliaries. Goler Memorial A.M.E.
