As the chief executive offi cer of these organizations, he is responsible for the vision, exe cution and expansion of holistic programs of ministry, health and education in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and South America. A native of Louisville, Ky., Goatley is a graduate of the Uni versity of Louisviile (A.A.S. and B.S.) and the Southern Bap tist Theological Seminary (M.Div. and Ph.D.) and was ordained for the Gospel ministry by First Baptist Church, Emi-. nence, Ky. His professional experience includes successful tenures in data and telecommunications, denominational leadership, urban ministries, the pastorate and higher education. He is the author of several published articles and one book, "Were You There?: Godfor sakenness in Slave Religion" (Orbis Books. 1996). TO THE CH RONICLE The Mighty Men of Valor of Mount Sinai Full Gospel Deliverance Center - at 2721 Manchester Street and where Pastor Yvonne H. Hines is senior presbyter - held their annual Men's Convocation Sept. 13-15 with the thematic emphasis "Godly Men Tested and Refined by the Fires of Experience!" Convocation speakers for the men's weekend were Minister Terry Taylor, Elder Ronald Paige, Minister Perry Tuttle and the Rev. Dr. James Woodson Jr. Presiding over the Fri day evening service was Elder Wilbert Pankey, sup ported by Cedaris Orr and Anthony Harris, who read the Scripture and gave the invocation, and Scott Robinson, who sang "He Touched Me" as a song of preparation. Minister Taylor and Elder Paige of Mount Sinai Full Gospel Deliver ance Center, gave the exege sis of the theme for Men's Convocation. Saturday morning the men communed together with a fellowship breakfast. The Sunday morning serv ice was presided over by Elder Paige with support during the service from Aaron Hughes, Senior Elder Ben Robinson, and Master Kenneth Lowery II, reading the Scripture, giving the invocation and the greeting. After the song of prepa ration by the Men's Choir, the congregation was treat ed to the sensible and straightforward teaching of ex-pro NFL football player Perry Tuttle of the Fellow ship of Christian Athletes in Charlotte. Minister Tuttle asked the men, "What is your name?" and "Where are you?" He continued, "What is attached to your name, and are you in place ?so that God can use you?" Culminating the Men's Convocation was the Sun day evening service, presided over by Minister Terry Taylor and guest speaker Rev. James Wood son Jr., pastor of St. James Home of Fresh Start Min istries in Greensboro. Sup porting the program were Master Bryan Taylor, Elder Kenneth Lowery and Paul S. Johnson reading Scrip ture, giving the invocation and the greeting. The gospel group Ecclesia performed the song of preparation, and the choir from Fresh Start Ministries also blessed the congregation with a song. There was an extempora neous performance by Don Dykes of Goodwill Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, who whistled the hymn "His Eye Is on the Sparrow." Rev. Woodson espoused the spirited message "Look ing Through See Nothing Days," letting us know that just because we don't see the miracle does not mean'it isn't there; for the blessing to flow, a change must be made. After the ministry of deliverance went forth and the benediction was given, the Mighty Men of Valor went out with great fervor to win souls to Christ.
