A series of eight nightly ' revival services were held begin ning Nov. 4- 8 and Nov. 11-13. These churches participated: Phillips Chapel Baptist (pastor, the late Rev. Stephen T. Thorn ton). Friendship Baptist (pastor, the Rev. S.E. Tyndall), St. Mark Baptist (pastor, the Rev. James Fuiwood), Mt. Pleasant Baptist (pastor, the Rev. Vernon Crump), St. John Christian Methodist Episcopal (pastor, the Rev. Bobby R. Best), Saints Home United Methodist (pastor, the Rev. Paul Perkins), Grace United Commu nity (pastor, the Rev. Joseph Parks) and Union Chapel Baptist (pastor, the Rev. Konnie G. Robinson). Due to the recent death of Rev. Thornton. Rev. Lamont Johnson served as interim pastor and carried the banner for Phillips Chapel Baptist Church. Rev. Lawrence Carvana served for Friendship Baptist Church, due to the illness of Rev. S.E. Tyndall. Rev. Konnie Robinson served as coordinator for the group. The theme adopted for this year was "Moving From the Pulpit and the Pews lo the Streets and the Schools." This theme was based on Acts 1:8. Although one of the primary purposes of the revival was to secure funds to assist these two schools in obtaining much-need ed equipment and supplies, the ultimate purpose was to proclaim the power of the church's com mitment to declare the Gospel of Jesus Christ beyond the church walls. Therefore, as in previous years when this revival was held, evangelistic outreach in the Boston/Kimberly Park communi ty remained a vital part of the revival effort. In preparation for this portion of the revival, prayer and evan gelism workshops were held on Saturday. Nov. 2, before the start of the revival. Officers and mem bers from each of the eight churches assembled at Phillips Chapel Baptist Church for the workshops. Rev. Vemon Crump taught the prayer workshop, and Rev. Konnie Robinson taught the evangelism workshop. Prayer and evangelism teams were formed. Each night before the revival these teams would assemble at the designated church for that night. The prayer team would remain at the church and pray for the evangelistic outreach efforts, the pastors and the spiritual/finan cial success of the revival. The outreach teams canvassed the nearby neighborhoods. It was evident from testi monies each night by members of the evangelistic teams that the community outreach efforts were fruitful.
