Obituaries Russell Funeral Home 822 Carl Russell Ave. 722-3459 cox Mr. Charles "Charlie" Whittington Cox, 86, formerly of 625 W. Sixth St., Apt. 11-F, Crystal Towers, passed away on Jan. 8 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Cox was born in Wilkesboro on June 4, 1919, and moved to Winston-Salem after discharge from the service in the late 1960s. He leaves to cherish his memories: a nephew, Thomas (Mattie) Lynch of Wilkesboro; a niece. Tammy (Thomas) Crawford; and a granddaughter, Terri (Isaiah,) Hawkins, all of Winston-Salem. v The funeral was held Jan. 1 1 at noon at Ihc ( 'hapel of Russell Funeral Home. Mrs. Flora Bell Ciuest King, 85, of 3309 Old Greensboro Road, Winston-Salem, left her earthly home on Jan. 6 at the Lutheran Home of Winston-Salem. "Mama King," as she was so fondly called by family and friends, was born on May 29, 1929, in Spartanburg, S.C. Professionally, she served the family of Dr. and Mrs. MM. Miller and many other families as a caregiver. She held mem bership at Eastside Church of Christ for more than 50 year&. She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. King Sr.; mother, Daisy Ellis; and stepfather, John Ellis. "Mama King" leaves to cherish her loving memories: two sons, Willie (Gloria) King and James (Bennie) King; three granddaughters, Tonjua King of Conyers, Ga... Tawanna King of Cary, N.C., and Angela King of Kcrncrsvillc; a great-grand daughter, Imani King of Kernersvilte; two sisters, Hattic Rose of Washington, D.C., and Mildred Bailey of New York, N.Y.; one brother, George Ellis of New York, N.Y.; nieces and nephews, Ray (Delores) Bailey, Terry Bailey and Carolyn Whife; special nephews, Odell (Betty) King; many other special nieces and nephews; cousins, Willie Ann Winchester, Blanch Means and Mr. apd Mrs. Howard Guest; and immediate extend r fed families, the Cain and Jessup families. The funeral wSs held Jan. J 1 at 1 p.m. at the Eastside Church of Christ. Brother Gary Lodge officiated. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery. ? Russell luneral directors were in charge of the services and arrangements. LEAK On Jan 1, Julie Mae Patterson-Leak left us to join the Creator Julia Mae was born in Maxton, N.C., on March 10, 1932. She was a caring mother who did what she had to do to care for her children. She worked hard to teach morals. Years ago, Julia Mac professed Christ in her life'. Her hobbies were family outings, dancing, singing and enjoying her family. She believed family was important. That is something we should all hold eluse to our own hearts, and that's why we as a family should put the past behind us and put fami ly at the top of our do-right list. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Howard Leak; mother, Sarah Patterson; father, Jeremiah Patterson, sister, Doris Patterson; brother, William Patterson; grandson, I.egrant Patterson; and great granddaughter, Alicia Patterson. She leaves behind: hertwo daughters, Marilyn Patterson and Janice Leak; one syn, Robert L. Patterson; her sister, Veda Patterson; brother/jcremiah Patterson Jr.; nephew, William; 36 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great great-grand children; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. The funeral w as held Jan. 9 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Russell Funeral Home, Evangelist Barbara Amos officiated. Russell l uneral directors were in charge of the services and arrange ments. ROBINSON Mr. Eugene Alvin Robinson, 76, known to family and friends as "Bro" Robinson died Jan. 5 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after a courageous struggle with cancer. Hugene was born March 20, 1929, in Charlotte. Eugene attended the public schools of Winston-Salem and was retired from Step One, where he was a substance abuse counselor for more than 10 years. Eugene was preceded in death by: his father, Albert Robinson; his mother, Bessie Robinson; and his oldest grand child, Shannon Sutton. Eugene is survived -by: four daughters and two sons, Sandra Russell (Carl Jr.), Sheila Sutton (Randy) of Arlington, Texas, Anita Tayfor (Jeff), Eugena Robinson, Michael Thompson (Brenda) of Tallahassee, Fla., and Alvin Robinson (Gwendolyn); three brothers, Albert Robinson, Charles Robinson (Nira) and Donald Rohinson; 16 grandchildren, one great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. The funeral was held Jan. 10 at noon at Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church, 5095 Lansing Drive. The Rev. William Gary of Statesvillc served as eulogist. Interment fol lowed in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, N.C. The family wishes to thank the staff of Reynolda Park Assisted Living and the Rate B. Reynolds Home. She leaves behind: one sister and four brothers, Helen Eaton, James (Johnnie) Scales, Thomas (Sharon) Scales, Donald (Odessa) Scales and Ernest (Thomasina) Gardner; five daugh ters and three sons, Ruby L. Wilds, Brcnda (Ceroy) Simon, Fannie (Eawaskia) Jenkins, Karen Coventon, Lawana (Tyrone) Chaplin, Calvin (Debra) Scales, Willie Wilds Jr. and James Wilds; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephew s, and friends. The funeral was held Jan. 6 at 1:30 p in. at Friendship Baptist Church. The Rev. Robert L. Moore officiated. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery. Third St., Unit #107, passed away on Dec. 25 at Winston-Salem Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center He was born Oct. 18, 1935, in Forsyth County, the son of Lizzie Stinson (Greene) and William James Stinson Sr. He attended Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. His son, Barry Vaughn, preceded him in death He leaves behind: a brother, Steve Stinson; stepchildren, Robin Sharp (Bobby), Doris Vaughn, Mario Vaughn Sr. and Kevin Vaughn; daughter-in-law, Ramona Vaughn; and devoted grandson, Mario Vaughn, Jr. Graveside services were held Jan. 7 at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery.
