CONRAD Mrs. Dorothy Mae Imes Conrad, 79, of 1306 East Clemmonsville Road went home to see Jesus on, March 24, 2008 at Kate Bitting Reynolds Hospice Home after an extend ed period of illness. Dorothy Mae was born October 24, 1928 in Clemmons NC to the late Winfield and Annie lmes. She was a faithful member of Hickory Grove AME Zion Church until her health started ? to fail. Mrs. Conrad was preceded in death by her hus band, Walter L<ee Conrad; two sons, Leroy Thomas Imes and Norman Wesley Imes; two sis ters, Annie Carter and Elizabeth Parks; five brothers, James Imes, Clarence Imes, Everett Imes, Elbert Imes and Charlie Imes. Mrs. Conrad leaves to cher ish her memories seven grand children: Elanda (Darryl) Starnes. Norman Imes Jr. , Kelvin Imes , Elizabeth Imes, Michael (Darr) Imes Matthew (Chrystal) Imes, Ebony Stewart sixteen great-grandchildren, one great great grandchild, two spe cial daughters-in-law. Ruth Imes and Sandra Perry; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 29th at 1:30 PM on Hickory Grove AME Zion Church with Rev. Robert H. Bailey, officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. (Clark S. Brown & Sons) GIBSON Beloved mother and " grandmoth er, Dorothy Gibson of Winston 5 a 1 e m passed on March 9, 2 0 0 8. Dorothy was born to me laie Bernice Mayberry on August 13, 1925 in Davidson County, N.C. She attended the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Public Schools and was a devoted member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. i - In Memoriam Dorothy was preceded in death by her her parents, her husband Earl Gibson and her son Charles Gallman. Left to cherish her memo ries are two daughters Jean Gallman and Ruth Dobson; four grandsons, Patrick (Linda) Dobson of Greensboro, N.C, Bernard Dobson, Kevin and Corey Gallman of Winston-Salem; nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and two devoted friends, Evelyn Pinkney and Bonita Marcus; a devoted cousin, Bernie Adams and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on at 1 p.m. on March 26, at Piney Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. James Linville officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery. (Clark S. Brown & Sons) PITT GREENSBORO - Annie Ruth Pitt, 71 , of 2 Arby Court, Greensboro, passed on Thurscfay m o r n i n ft , April 3. 2008. She was born July 13, 1936, to Joseph and Lucille Pitt in Halifax County. She attended the public schools in Raleigh and gradu ated from Washington High before moving to Greensboro with her family. While in Greensboro, she attended and graduated from the School of Stenography in 1955. She spent the majority of her Working career at Southeastern Soda Shop in the Southeastern Building on Elm Street. Affectionately known by her family and many friends as "Fat," she was best known for her chicken-and rice soup. She was a member of Whosoever Will Baptist Church, where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. The Rev. Larry Foust is pastor. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Josephine Williams; and a brother, James E. Pitt. Surviving are a son, Michael A. (Debra) Pitt of Winston Salem; two granddaughters. Jasmine and Jaelynn; two grandsons, Karl and Kevin of Greensboro; two sisters, Gertrude Phillips of Winston Salem and Patricia (Dennis) Cunningham of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Clarence A.(Lydia) Pitt of Jonesville, Ga., and Ernest H. (Elaine) Pitt of Winston-Salem; an aunt, Clara Saxon of Washington, D.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews and friends. Funeral services were con ducted at noon on Tuesday, April 8, in the chapel of Hargett Funeral Home in Greensboro on East Market Street, with the Rev. Foust officiating. Burial services followed at Maplewood Cemetery. There was a view ing at the chapel from 11 a.m. to noon, on the day of the service. On one on Monday, April- 7 at Russell Funeral Home in Winston-Salem. The family had visitation from 7 to 9 on Monday night at the home. Services were done by Russell Funeral Home. STEWART Willianf "Brown" Stewart began his eternal rest in glory on Saturday, iviarcn n, 2008 with family and friends at his bedside. For though I be absent, in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spir it. ..(Colossians 2:5). William was born to the late Estelle Stewart Hammond and Joe Wilson in Lancaster, S.C. on October 17, 1927. He attended the local pub lie schools of Lancaster. He moved to Winston-Salem, N.C. as a young man and began working for the RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company During his 35-year tenure with RJ Reynolds, he met and married his loving wife of 50 years Fronnie Mae Thomas Stewart. Serving the Lord through his membership at Emmanuel Baptist Church, William was known for preparing delicious meals for many church and family gatherings. He served on the Trustee Board, the Kitchen Committee and the Spiritual Choir. He enjoyed telling jokes, attending family reunions, traveling to "Camp Meeting" in Lancaster, and most of all hearing good preaching and singing. Papa" was considered a fam ily and community historian as his recollection of people and events was remarkable! He truly loved his family and his church! He was preceded in death by his parents and son, William Wayne Stewart. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Fronnie T. Stewart; his legacy lives on through his sons, Richard E. (Manya) Stewart, Kenneth L. Stewart (Ruby Ingram); grandchil dren, Tonya Stewart (Randall ) McCray, William "Man" Stewart, II, Johnetta and Billy Stewart, Angela Richardson, Scott, Brandon, and Christopher Stewart, Jasmine Stewart Stallworth and Kenneth L. Stewart, Jr.; great grandchildren; Randy, Kier, and Brandon McCray, Jordan and Jaden Stallworth; one sis ter, Dr. Juanita Flemming; one sister-in-law. Rose Thomas; a brother-in-law, Diggs Harris; special Stewart cousins from Lancaster, Lottie Allen, Will Heyward and Doretha Mewart, and Lucinda Hood, many nieces, nephews,' extended family and special fnends at Johnson Home of Memory. The family visitation was on Wednesday, April 2, froqLk until 9 p.m. at Clark S. Brown I& Sons Funeral Home. The celebration of life service was at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, at Emmanuel Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. John Mendez officiated. Interment was in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. (Clark S. Brown & Sons) YOUNG Deacon Roland Young, 81, of 755 E. Clemmonsville Circle went home to be with the Lord on March 19, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife of many years, . Louise n Young. Deacon Young was a faithful member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church until his health failed. He is sur vived by a son and daughter, Arthur and Doreen Young, several grandchildren, very special nieces and nephews, Alice Roseboro-Joe, Sharon Roseboro, Larry "Mont" Joe, Jr., Robert Joe, 0 Anthony Roseboro, Tre'shen Joe. Tyrick "Boog" Joe, Bertha Parks, and the Rev. Ardeal Roseboro and a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial service was held at 12 noon Saturday; March 22 in the chapel of Clark S.
