BARBER V^dell Sewell Barber departed this life and entered eternal rest on April 2. Mrs. Barber was born September 28, 1930 in Toccoa, Ga to Coy and Maggie Meriwether Sewell. She attended the Winston Salem/Forsyth County Schools and graduated from Toccoa City Schools. She graduated from Winston-Salem State University with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and retired from the Bethlehem Kimberly Park Day Care Center after 21 years of service. Barber was an active member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Church Clerk for 40 years. She had a special love an4 joy for her church family and the Seniors Ministry. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Annie Sue Sewell; and her son-in-law, Edmond L. Ingram, ? She is survived by her husband of 53 years, James T. Barber, Sr.; one son, James T. Barber, Jr. of the home; her daughter, Anita Barber Ingram of Charlotte, N.C.; a devoted friend, Sallie Mae McFadden; and a host of other relatives and friends. Barksdale depart ed this earthly life for a heavenly homegoing on April 3 at 8:46 a.m. from the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, N.C. after a lengthy illness. Lucile was born in Bennettsville, S.C. on January 1, 1912, to Nancy Gertrude Smith and William Bdyd Buchanan. Her early working career was that of a teacher upon graduation from Winston-Salem Teachers College before later working for the Federal Government in the Office of Civil Service as a Staffing Specialist in Washington, DC for nearly 40 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, Oscar Morrison and Leonard N. Barksdale. Lucile is survived by her loving family including her grand niece, Anmari F. Cowan; nieces, Deborah and Nancy "Cookie" Cowan; nephew, Walter S. Cowan; all the children of Lucile's first cousin, Grace Cowan; and a host of grand children, other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Brunson and Lillian Nimmons Brunson. Levi became ill March 1 , and his health continued to decline. He departed this life on April 1 . Levi was a member of United Progressive Baptist Church. All who loved him called him "Pops." From a family of nine children, he was the fourth son of eight boys and one girl. He retired from the Winston Salem/Forsyth County Schools as a custodian. Bobby was born in Winston-Salem, N.C. to the late Laura Bohannon and Herman Moore . In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Aaron, Leander and Bernard. He was a grad uate of Atkins High School, a veteran of the U.S. Army, served in Germany and received atwhonor able discharge. He relocated to Bridgeport, Connecticut, where he was a mem ber of First Baptist Church and worked at United Parcel for 31 years as a long distance truck driver. After retiring, he moved back home to join other family members. ROBINSON Deacon John Thomas Robinson Sr. also known as "Slow-Poke" and "CHIEF" entered this life on February 8, 1933 in-Winston-Salem, N.C., son of Oter Robinson Wilson. John was preceded in death by his mother, Oter Robinson Wilson and was reared and nurtured in a lov ing home by his stepfather, Marshall Wilson, who also preceded him in death. John was educated in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System, graduating from Atkins High School in 1952. He then continued his education with four years of service in the United States Navy and two years of Naval College. Robinson made history as the first black car salesman for Hull Dobbs rord repre senting the Carolina-Virginia region. He retired from Parks Chevrolet where he was recipient of 18 Legion of Leaders Auto Sales Achievement Awards. He was self-employed at Robinson & Son's Motors and worked as a Transportation Driver for Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools. John Thomas Robinson Sr. was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who worked hard to provide for his family and many others that had the privilege to know him. He enjoyed reading his Bible and other books, celebrating Christmas, cookouts, cowboy movies and all types of sports.
