In Memoriam BANNER A dearest mother, beloved wife, and sister; Mrs. Ruth Carson Banner, 81 of 2508 Druid Hills Drive was born in December of 1926 in Advance, N.C. to Hubert and Laura Carson. She was the first of her siblings to be born in North Carolina Ruth departed this life on July 25. 2008 in Winston-Salem, N.C. She completed her formal edu cation in Advance, Mocksville, Troutman. and Winston-Salem, N.C. She was a graduate of Atkins High School. Class of 1945 and continued her formal education in Dillard's Practical Nursing Classes. Ruth was a devout and faith ful member of Union Baptist Church and was active in numerous church and commu nity organizations. Among these were: Ideal Community Cfub (Martin Luther King Recreation Center), Union Baptist Church Deaconess Choir. Volunteer with the Black Repertory Theatre Festival. Forsyth Hospital/Feel Good Friday's, Winston-Salem Central Tax Volunteers. AT & T Telecom Boneers, W-S Night Out Communit^Watch Program. and the GreerWvay Community Club. She also was a loyal member of the Meridian Chapter #308. Order of the Easter Stars. King Solomon No. 64 Order of the Golden Circle, PHA. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Harmon Carson: her son, Reginald A. Banner, two sisters-in law, Ann and Barbara Carson; and one brother-in-law, Alanavious Johnson. She was born Dec. 12, 1974, in Cleveland, Ohio. FAULKNER Inez Faulkner was born in Sumter, SC to the late Charlie S. and Blanch Pringle Thompson on December 18, 1919. She was the fourth of seven chil dren born to that union. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her hus bands, Robert Archie and Willie Faulkner; brother. ? ? L larKsey i nompson and sisters, Evelyn Blair. Ann Jones and Wilehelmenia Williams Mrs. Faulkner's journey in life took her to New York and St John Isle, South Carolina before returning to Winston-Salem in 1998. She reunited with the Goodwill Baptist Church which she joined at a young age. At Goodwill Baptist. Mrs. Faulkner served on the Missionary Ministry and Daughters of Deborah Women's Ministry. Sr. departed this life. He was born in Newberry. SC on August 16, 1929. He moved to Winston-Salem, NC when he was very young. Mr. Glenn was a faith ful member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, a member of Prince Hall Masons and a lifetime member of Sethos Temple. Leroy attended Atkins High School. He worked for RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company for many years and later started his own businesses: Glenn's Window Washing Service, Glenn Janitorial Service and Northside Amoco Service Station. In 1949, he married O'Neal Smith and to this union was born two sons: Leroy, Jr. (Myong) and Reginald (Linda); three grandchildren: Leroy Bernard, Reginald, Jr. and Caprice Glenn; three great grandchildren: Amaya, Jayla and Jade; two sisters: Bertha (Mose) Sheff and Dahlia Johnson; six brothers: Clarence (deceased), Luther (Mary) Glenn, Anthony (Patricia) Glenn, Vernon (Janet) Glenn, Sam (Glendcia) Glenn, Jr.; three aunts: Minnie, Euzell and Mildred; two devoted sisters-in law: Alice and Elvin Smith; devoted nieces, Patty Glenn and Barbara (Frankie) Lee and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives :and very special friends. He departed this life Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at the Nursing Center of Oak Summit, after a period oi illness. He was preced ed in death by his father, Robert Lee Hairston; mother Margaret T. James; brother Joe Louis Hairston;. and a loving grandmoth er, Stella Thomas, who raised him. Mr. Leon Hairston has been a resident of Winston-Salem for over 45 years but always remained actively involved with his family and friends in the Midway community. He retired after 22 years as a custodian for Mother & Daughter Department Store and later retired from Woolworth and Goodwill Industries. Mr. Leon Hairston was a very faithful, active and devoted mem ber of the Shiloh Baptist Church and the Mary Hinson Senior Citizens Group of Zion Memorial Baptist Church. Born mentally disabled, he still knew how to have fun and enjoy life. Known to many as "Moot", he enjoyed small toy cars, cigarette lighters and gladly shared them with others. Ray von was a member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the anointed pastoral leadership of Bishop John C. Parks (nephew-in-law) and a faithful tither. He was preceded in death by his parents.
