News Clips Meeting will highlight N.C. adoption options A Free International Adoption Information Meeting will be held Monday, Oct. 27 from 7-9 p.m. at the Family Services office, 1200 Soutlj Broad Street, Winston-Salem, NC National Adoption Awareness Month is cele brated each November to highlight children around the -pation and the world who are waiting on an adop tive family. Family Services, in collaboration with the Children's Home Society and Family Services of Minnesota, will host the information meet ing about international adoption options in North Carolina. "International adoption is a wonderful way for fam ilies in our community to become parents" says Rebecca Nagaishi, Director of the Family Solutions Division of Family Services, Inc. "Adoption fulfills the promise of a per manent, forever family for children across the world." Professor will discuss good, bad and ugly of '08 election Allan Louden, professor of commu nication at Wake Forest University, will present a lecture titled "Vote: The 2 0 0 8 Election" at Louden j p.m. uct. 29 in Wake Forest's Z. Smith Reynolds Library, Room 204 In the lecture. Louden will present a retrospective - what he calls the "good, bad and ugly" of the campaign ing in the 2008 presidential race. He will use video clips from his "hit list" of political ads from the primary and general election season to illustrate particular posi tions. The lecture, which is sponsored by the library, is free and open to the public. Free talk about incontinence slated for Tuesday Dr. John J. Smith, profes sor of urology at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, will present a free talk on the latest treat ments for urinary inconti nence from 1 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 4507 Thomasville Road, N.C. Highway 109. Urinary incontinence affects about 20 percent of women over age 40 and nearly 30 percent of elderly people active in the commu nity. One percent to 30 per cent of men are affected fol lowing prostate surgery. Incontinence can result in loss of self-esteem and in some people, anxiety and depression.
