Talent Hunt seeks applicants The Psi Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi is seeking applications for its Annual Talent Hunt. Eligible appli cants must be student vocal ists or instrumentalists in grades 9 - 12 performing classical or semi-classical music. The Talent Hunt will be held on Feb. 8, 2009 at 3 p.m. at the Anderson Center's Dillard Auditorium on the campus of Winston e: Salem State University. Donations for this Black Tie event are $45. All pro ceeds will benefit the Phi Omega Cotillion and Scholarship Programs. It was a little less than a week before Christmas, but the season of giving was in full effect last Friday at the Sims Recreation Center at the Annual Peace Toys for War Toys Exchange. The program, founded more than a 15 years ago by Sims Center Director Ben Piggott, urges young people to turn in toy guns and vio lent video games in exchange for kinder toys like dolls and sports ' equipment. Hundreds of toys were handed out during the event. Several lucky youngsters even won bikes and computers in raffles. Piggott, who started the program after his brother was murdered, secured the help of dozens of local sponsors to make the program a re ality.
