S.C., who accepted her calling from God to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ on July 3, 1982. She has trav eled to many places preaching and singing the gospel. In 1984, Rev. Alexander recorded her very first alburn entitled "He Saw My Needs." In 2006, she had the opportunity of recording and hosting a live recording for Union Baptist Church. In 2008, she has recorded with Dionn Owens & Renaissance and Bishop Steve Williams. Last year, she sang the National Anthem for 11,000 people during a Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer event in Winston-Salem. She has recently landed a cast role in the national touring production, "Church Mess." Holy Family Catholic Church raises money for Crisis Control SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE The St. Elizabeth Ann Guild of Holy Family Catholic Church recently presented a check for $1,200 to Crisis Control Ministry. The check repre sents the proceeds from a dinner the Guild held to benefit Crisis Control, a Christian-based ministry whose mission is to assist people in crisis to meet essential life needs and to become self-sufficient. Crisis Control Ministry also offers a food pantry and licensed free pharmacy for Forsyth County residents. TTie Guild organized a dinner with tables individu ally decorated by women of Crisis Control Executive Director Margaret Elliott accepts a check from Ellen Tommasi of Holy Family Catholic Church. the church using unique table designs. The evening's special speaker was Bob Plemmons, a "cer tified laughter profession al," who talked about the health benefits of a chuck le. The St. Elizabeth Ann Guild is a group of women who, through shared wor ship, prayer, social activi ties and spiritual opportuni ties, seek to grow in faith and in union with one another. Their mission is to unify their talents and jour ney together to be a wel coming body and foster compassion for others as reflected in the life of their patroness, Elizabeth Ann Seton. Rising Ebenezer celebrates member's 101st birthday SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE Members of the Mary Magdalene Missionary Circle of Rising Ebenezer Baptist Church visited with one of its senior members, Nellie H. Edwards, at the Somerset Court Rest Home in Mocksville on Feb. 14, 2009. The visit was coordi nated by the Missionary Circle President Carolyn Dixon. The visitors cele brated Mrs. Edwards' 101st birthday. Edwards was quite sur prised and enjoyed the visit just as much as she did when the group helped her to celebrate her 100th birth day in 2008, along with her family and friends. Edwards is a former res ident of the Happy Hill Garden community, where the church is located. Rising Ebenezer Baptist Church is located at 900 Free St., where the Rev. William C. Brown is the pastor. This celebration was Mrs. Nellie H. Edwards, seated at right, and Mrs. Cora Warren, seated left, are sur rounded by members of the church attended also by another former member of Rising Ebenezer Baptist Church, Cora Warren, now a mem ber of United Progressive Baptist Church, who just happens to be 102 years old. Both ladies had a won derful time chatting and reminiscing about days past. Also attending were Barbara Gregory (Mrs. Edwards' niece) and her husband Steve Gregory. The couple lives in Cary. Everyone joined in to sing Happy Birthday to Mrs. Edwards and ate a birthday cake that was pro vided by the Gregorys. The group also sung familiar gospel songs with Mrs. Edwards, other residents and members of the Redland Church of Christ of Advance, who just hap pened to be at the Home that day to share songs with the residents. McCullough has worked as an administrative assistant for the City of Winston-Salem for 10 years and as a secretary at R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company for more than 20 years. She was also the admin istrative secretary for the late Dr. Benjamin S. Ruffin at his consulting firm .The Ruffin Group. She has been pastor of New Direction since 1979 She was an innovator in both television and radio ministry. She is known for ministering to the whole person and has won thousands of souls to the Lord.
