Alexander will speak at Living Witness

Living Witness Baptist Church, 758 Ogburn Ave., will have the Rev.
Beverly Hicks Alexander as the guest speaker on Sunday. March 29 at the 1 1
a.m. worship service.
Alexander is a native of Bennettsville. S.C., who accepted her calling
from God to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ on July 3, 1982. She has trav
eled to many places preaching and singing the gospel.
In 1984, Rev. Alexander recorded her very first alburn entitled "He Saw
My Needs." In 2006, she had the opportunity of recording and hosting a live
recording for Union Baptist Church. In 2008, she has recorded with Dionn
Owens & Renaissance and Bishop Steve Williams. Last year, she sang the
National Anthem for 11,000 people during a Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer
event in Winston-Salem. She has recently landed a cast role in the national
touring production, "Church Mess."

raises money for Crisis Control

Guild of Holy Family
Catholic Church recently
presented a check for
$1,200 to Crisis Control
Ministry. The check repre
sents the proceeds from a
dinner the Guild held to
benefit Crisis Control, a
Christian-based ministry
whose mission is to assist
people in crisis to meet
essential life needs and to
become self-sufficient.
Crisis Control Ministry also
offers a food pantry and
licensed free pharmacy for
Forsyth County residents.

Rising Ebenezer celebrates
member's 101st birthday

Baptist Church visited with
one of its senior members,
Nellie H. Edwards, at the
Somerset Court Rest Home
in Mocksville on Feb. 14,
2009. The visit was coordi
nated by the Missionary
Circle President Carolyn
Dixon. The visitors cele
brated Mrs. Edwards' 101st
birthday.
Edwards was quite sur
prised and enjoyed the visit
just as much as she did
when the group helped her
to celebrate her 100th birth
day in 2008, along with her
family and friends.
Edwards is a former res
ident of the Happy Hill
Garden community, where
the church is located.

husband Steve Gregory.
The couple lives in Cary.
Everyone joined in to
sing Happy Birthday to
Mrs. Edwards and ate a
birthday cake that was pro
vided by the Gregorys. The
group also sung familiar
gospel songs with Mrs.
Edwards, other residents
and members of the
Redland Church of Christ
of Advance, who just hap
pened to be at the Home
that day to share songs with
the residents.

for the City of Winston-Salem
for 10 years and as a secretary
at R. J. Reynolds Tobacco
Company for more than 20
years. She was also the admin
istrative secretary for the late
Dr. Benjamin S. Ruffin at his
consulting firm .The Ruffin
Group.
She has been pastor of
New Direction since 1979
She was an innovator in both
television and radio ministry.
She is known for ministering
to the whole person and has
won thousands of souls to the
Lord.
