Religion Calendar Happening Now Intercessory Prayer Conference Pincy Grove Baptist Church, 4715 Indiana Ave., will have its annual Intercessory Prayer Conference on Thursday, April 8 and Friday, April 9 beginning at 7 p.m. nightly. Zion Church laid the groundwork for a Prayer Network that will strive to attract more than 2, (KM) participants. The event started at the City Hall North Building irom 3-o p.m with about IS adults and chil dren taking part. Scriptures and prayers were offered for the govern ment, schools, children, fami lies, the econo my and those facing surgery l.artey and other health issues. Adults as well as children gathered for this occasion. Rev. Dr. Seth O. Lartey, Goler's pastor, has a dream of having 2,000 plus people joining together to pray for these issues and concerns on a regular basis. "We are launching this endeavor because of the rise of antagonism for prayers in public places; because of our overwhelming need for God's intervention in the affairs of humankind; and because of the need A small crowd prays near City Hall. for harmony, unity, civility and peace among the people of our communi ty," he said. "For those of us who believe in the power of prayer, what an awesome wonder it will be to have this many persons praying on one accord for specific items. Greater Higher Ground honors pastors SPECIAL TP THE CHRONICLE The Greater Higher Ground Board of Presbyters held its 2010 Prayer Breakfast to honor local pastors in the Triad area on Saturday. March 13 at the Winston-Salem Urban League. The honorees selected this year were Bishop and First Lady Tyrone Green of New Hope Holiness of Lexington; Apostle Jackki Hunter of Christ Centered Christian Fellowship Church of Greensboro; and Elder Lamonte Williams of Diggs Memorial United Holy Church The breakfast began with motivational words from Bishop John H. Heath, followed by prayer and scripture by the members of the Greater Higher Ground Board of Presbyters. Greater Higher Ground Ministries Women of Excellence Mime Ministry then performed. After sharing a hearty breakfast, the Word was brought forth by the anointed Elder Lamonte Williams and he asked the ques tion. "Do you have the right keys?" ? The honorees were presented with a plaque. Each honoree gave words of thanks and prayed collectively for family, churches and the nation.
