Community Calendar Robinson Family Concert The Robinson Family (Carmen. Bjeverly and Ted) will hold a Christmas concert to benefit the scholarship endowment of Psi Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Inc. Kids will have Christmas to remember thanks to generous efforts BY TODD LUCK I HI CHRONICLE Dozens of local kids were treated to holiday shopping sprees on Saturday morning at the Target on University Parkway. Target, in conjunction with the Winston-Salem Police Department, and the Winston-Salem Jaycees sponsored separate events that allowed kids to pick up items on their Christmas wish lists. Fifteen Winston Salem Police Officers each escorted a child affiliated with Family Services. Inc. through the aisles of Target as the kids used $100 gift cards. The first-ever local "Shop with a Cop" event was funded by Target, which holds the event in 60 com munities around the country. The mega-retailer is also the national sponsor of National Night Out . a well-known crime prevention event. Locally , Target partners with the Police Department for i I Vashawn Dennis visits Santa Claus. the Drug Free N ('. program. For the children. Saturday's shopping excur sion was as much about exploring the store and interacting with their new police officer friends as it was about shopping. Officer Ryan Hagan gave the young boy he was paired with a ride on his shopping cart as the two made their way to the register.
